The upshot is that a massive manhunt was set up for this Olympia Washington man who was wearing a black watch cap, black turtleneck, and carrying an umbrella while going about his normal business. Helicopters, school lockdowns, and the whole nine.

Just shows you what kind of place our country is turning into.

I went and bought 1,000 rounds of shotgun shells today and was and am pretty nervous about it. We’re going to have a sporting clays charity shoot in a couple weeks. The sales guy said he wouldn’t report me. He was happy for the sale.

Olympian requires registration...bleah.

A man carrying an umbrella in Western Washington State? They’ll be locking down everything west of the Cascades!! LOL.

Next they will be locking down the grocery store because someone saw a hunting magazine in the rack by the cash register.

In my town, we had a SWAT team called out because an 8th-grader was seen carrying a burrito into the Jr. High School.

Bloomberry and the Loopy Chicken are already trying to come up with the “toughest” anti-umbrella laws in the nation. The race is on.

In late December I was in a B&N looking for a book for a Christmas gift. I decided to check the magazines to see what they had. I found a pro-2A magazine with a scary looking pistol on the front. I decided to carry it around the store while I did my shopping. The evil looks I got from the employees and particular the cashier were worth every penny I spent on it.

“Playful and theatrical by nature, Di Marzo gestured his umbrella toward the helicopter.”

Up until that point, even if he had been carrying a rifle he would have been legal. (Well, not sure about riding the bus.) But open-carry in Washington is legal as long as you aren’t doing it in a “threatening” manner. Of course threatening to me is a lot different than to some liberal weenie that would probably want someone SWATed for having a BB-gun slung over their shoulder.

Worked out at a nuclear facility, and the folks told us NOT to goof around in any manner. They told the story of a crew of contractors out in some far reach of the site, and one guy pointed his rake handle at a small helicopter as it flew by. A few minutes later two attack helicopters were on either side of the workers, with speakers telling them to lay on the ground and wait for security vehicles.

A friend of mine went into a drugstore here in San Francisco wearing his NRA cap. He walked into an aisle and came upon a woman walking toward him. She had a grade-school age daughter in tow.

The woman spotted the cap and a look of horror crossed her face. She grabbed the kid and in a frightened voice said, “Let’s get out of here before someone gets hurt.”

In Livermore, california, the site of the old Livermore Radiation Lab - now the LLL, the local cops are on the alert for strange behavior.
They have a strange rule that someone who walks diagonally across a parking lot at night is under suspicion. It happened ta friend of mine who worked at Livermore lab with highest security clearance and walked diagonally across a hotel parking lot at night coz there was few cars there.4 police cars immediately surrounded him; they threw him to the ground and threw him in jail after checking his ID. His wife had to come and bail him out for trespassing $500 bucks. After that he never walked anywhere in Livermore.

I dunno, in the right hands an umbrella could bring down a helicopter.

now that I think of it, it would be cool if I had a functioning umbrella that *really* looked like an evil “assault” weapon.

Maybe the forestock opens into the umbrella, for instance.

On a slightly different but I believe related situation I once was at the SF Public Library looking for “Zebra: The True Account of the 179 Days of Terror in San Francisco.” by Howard Clark. It was listed in the catalog but noted to “see the main desk”. They had a copy but it was held in the back and only brought out for reading 30 minutes at a time. It was not allowed to be checked out.

It was bizarre. It was like I walked into Area 51 and asked to see classified documentation on any alien contact. The book was impossible to buy in SF until I ran across it a used book store.

Sadly many idiots believe NRA members and pro-2A types will randomly shoot and kill people on the street. They have yet to realize that they are in more danger of begin shot by the police in a big city for no reason, multiple times.

My local B&N hasn’t done that the last few time I have been in. I suspect they have a plan-o-gram on how those racks are suppose to look based on the employee with a clip board rearranging magazines I saw last time.

Let me guess, many of those would be coming from a eeeeevil AR-15 with 30 rd. magazines. Bonus points if more rounds hit random civilians than the suspect.

I winder of the umbrella holder is now more likely to get firearms?
