Vice President Joe Biden's trip to Europe last month led to a hefty tab with over $1 million for hotels for himself, staff and security for two nights in London and Paris, government documents show.
As first reported by The Weekly Standard, documents show that the U.S. State Department obtained contracts with two five-star hotels in London and Paris where the vice president stayed for two nights during a five-day tour of Europe last month.
"These costs are nothing out of the ordinary. They are in line with high-level travel across multiple administrations," the State Department official said.

Last year, an Air Force official told ABC News that one hour of flying time aboard Air Force One totaled $179,750 in FY2012.
Nothing out of the ordinary?

I heard Biden fell into a big bowl of escargot and it took many searchers hours, using the latest high tech, to find him.
Fox reported that it cost over $550K for a motel, just for one night in France.
These corrupt jerks believe they’re Kings.
From the article...”The White House normally does not disclose the amount paid for the vice president and president’s travel.”
And per Carney...”But the president has to travel around the country. He has to travel around the world. That is part of his job.”

Biden's $459,388.65 Hotel Bill
Due to obvious security concerns, such contracts are not open to the competitive bidding normally required on government contracts. The accompanying document justifying the "sole source" contract notes that the vice president's group required "approximately 136 hotel rooms for 893 room nights." Based on these figures and the total contract price, each hotel room at the five star hotel cost the U.S. government about $500 per night.

I posted the above on the other thread.
Freeper battlecry made this comment (post 28):
"My understanding is that when these people travel, we have to pick up the tab for the whole floor the bat$hit crazy dumba$$ is staying as well as the complete floors above and below. Regardless of whether anybody needs the rooms or not. They want a buffer and we pay for it."
I think he may be correct---136 rooms, but why "893 room nights"?
Biden is not worth the paper we wipe with
Pre-wipe or post-wipe?
Good Grief. The money they do waste.
He comes across as another Al Gore..
No room at our embassies around the world?
Boy, that would fund a few White house tours.
Correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t Biden the guy who is suffering through the Sequester by taking the Subway to work because they are out of money?
Right
550K a night. Most expensive prostitute in history!
Mopn Dieu. C’est le fou, Bidet, oops Biden.
Indeed... and with our money.
Obviously, there was huge advance party flown to London to arrange Slow Joe's visit, which lasted only one night. Figure 130+ people spending an average of almost a week, all put up for the duration at Slow Joe's first-class hotel. 893 nights / 136 rooms = 6.57 nights per room. I wonder what the airfare came to? We need a lot more than a sequester!
Because the advance party needed to arrive almost a week before, and they needed a place to stay befitting federal employees.
That’s just the rooms themselves so this is the tip of the iceburg considering food, transportation, new suits and a haircut, security, a Joe Went to Paris and All I Got Was a T-shirt for all the staff’s families and some bling for his wife, champaigne in the limo, and other incidentals. And this trip accomplished what exactly?
The ruling elite lives high off the hog with our money.
Perhaps Debbie Schulz should be angry at Biden seeing as how her staff is suffering starvation because of sequester.
Ol Plugs surfaced when the sommelier in an adjoining dining room mistakenly withdrew the cork from a Château Cos d'Estournel 05, rather than the more plebian 06 that was ordered.
