WASHINGTON, D.C., March 19, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The Republican Party's inside-the-Beltway leadership has placed itself at odds with grassroots members after issuing a new report suggesting the GOP soften its stance on redefining marriage and immigration reform.
“We need to campaign among Hispanic, black, Asian, and gay Americans and demonstrate we care about them, too,” says the 100-page report of the GOP's “Growth and Opportunity Project.”
“We must recruit more candidates who come from minority communities,” it says. “But it is not just tone that counts. Policy always matters.”
Many read the report as an invitation to give up the party's defense of marriage.
“When it comes to social issues, the Party must in fact and deed be inclusive and welcoming,” the report states. “If we are not, we will limit our ability to attract young people and others, including many women, who agree with us on some but not all issues.”
The GOP's post-election manifesto, which is already being dubbed the “autopsy report,” couches its abandonment of marriage in terms of chasing the youth vote.
“Younger voters are increasingly put off by the GOP,” it states. “For the GOP to appeal to younger voters, we do not have to agree on every issue, but we do need to make sure young people do not see the Party as totally intolerant of alternative points of view. Already, there is a generational difference within the conservative movement about issues involving the treatment and the rights of gays — and for many younger voters, these issues are a gateway into whether the Party is a place they want to be.”
“If our Party is not welcoming and inclusive,” the report warns, “young people and increasingly other voters will continue to tune us out.”
Social conservatives warn this will prove a death sentence for politicians who adopt its provisions.
“Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus has decided that the way for his party to win over voters is to parrot the Left's policies,” said Family Research Council President Tony Perkins. By courting young voters, he said, “Priebus would be betting the future of the GOP on a bloc who barely votes, while alienating the millions of social conservatives who do.”
Perkins called the report's designation as an “autopsy” an “apt name, considering where its recommendations would lead.”
Only 23 percent of registered Republicans support redefining marriage, according to recent polls. Although the 2012 presidential nominee, Mitt Romney, says he stills believes in traditional marriage, he chose to avoid the issue and campaign only on economic issues. As a result, an estimated three-to-six million Republican voters stayed home in 2012.
That fact was not lost on the conservative movement's most influential spokesman.
Rush Limbaugh said on his syndicated radio program Monday, “If the party makes [gay “marriage”] something official that they support, they’re not going to pull the homosexual activist voters away from the Democrat Party, but they are going to cause their base to stay home and throw their hands up in utter frustration.”
Limbaugh and grassroots Republicans similarly reject the GOP establishment's call to grant amnesty to illegal immigrants.
“We are not a policy committee,” the report states, “but among the steps Republicans take in the Hispanic community and beyond, we must embrace and champion comprehensive immigration reform” – politicians' preferred term for legalization of millions of immigrants who crossed the border without authorization. “If we do not, our Party’s appeal will continue to shrink to its core constituencies only.”
That core constituency repulsed two efforts from the George W. Bush administration to enact amnesty.
Other suggested reforms would limit the number of debates between presidential hopefuls and shorten the primary season, substantially favoring candidates with more money or name recognition.
That would benefit Republican megadonors such as Sheldon Adelson and Foster Friess, both of whom favor same-sex “marriage.” Adelson is also pro-abortion.
What we must do is create a NEW Republican National Committee as an attractive pole to reconstitute the coalitions.
I"d like to note here that Priebus and gang have no idea what to do about the intractable unemployment problem among youth so they push this nonsense that 'youth' can be easily distracted with a shift to a pro-gay marriage position.
I think 'youth' will vote for a party that has a program that targets unemployment! That 'youth', just like everybody else, prefer a good job.
BTW, Priebus, McCain, Romney and that crowd ~ including all their running dog lackeys, don't get a place in the new RNC.
I agree - I think it’s time for a new party altogether. I am also on the verge of leaving the party and if they become pro-gay marriage and pro-amnesty that’s it for me, I’m leaving.

Whenever Republicrat canvassers call requesting contributions, I now tell them that I’m no longer a Republican. When they ask if I’m now a Democrat, I reply ‘No. I’m a Monarchist.’
Then the Republican Party needs to be renamed in order that we not be reminded of the traitors to conservatism that have campaigned under that banner.
Republican Party is a soiled and disgraced name. Those that espouse what their opposite numbers do can stay, but the rest of us should move on and either join the Tea Party or the Oath Keepers Party.

Pro-family conservatives have been marginalized, relegated to a little corner in the Republican Party. Once upon a time, the LGBT and Abortion activistas were relegated to the corner. They have now become the mainstream of all the political parties of any consequence, and even those of minor consequence, like the Libertarians.
Without another Great Awakening, this country is doomed. Europe will soon be overrun by the Mohammedans, which I believe is the working of Divine Justice woven into the fabric of the Universe, the Law of “What you reap, you sow.”
For our once great and wealthy nation, we will become enslaved by a huge federal bureaucracy and permanently reduced to the Carter “Malaise”. Rebellion will be violently and mercilessly crushed by our new masters, the twin tyrants of Humanist metaphysics and Marxist economics.
The reason those parties stay small is the mathematics behind the single member district concept. That's how we organize our government ~ representatives with districts ~ one representative per given district.
No matter how many parties you start out with in such a district, politics will quickly reorganize itself into a coalition that can win 50% + 1 vote ~ to win the elections.
Those who didn't win are also forced to form a coalition that can, itself, plan on winning 50% + 1 vote ~ to win the elections.
Those coalitions must be able to win in local legislative districts, Congressional districts, governorships (the state's themselves, are single member districts for statewide offices), and so forth, all the way up.
The few exceptions to this are regional parties with short lives.
Thomas Jefferson is the fellow who first recognized the phenomenon, and he was able to wipe out the Federalists in just a couple of elections ~ they didn't know what hit them!
Now that you understand why you don't have a chance, join me in a campaign to simply DECAPITATE the national Republican party structure, and then replace it with a new top end.
This is more an exercise in pruning than building ~ but it worked before and it'll work now.

As someone who has exclusively voted GOP in every election, never deviating even once, my ties to the Party are now so frayed as to be holding on by the thinnest of thread. If even that. I couldn’t even bring myself to ‘watch’ the GOP-convention for the first time in my life. The backstabbing treatment towards Palin/Tea Party by the GOP-E crowd left me with a stomach-churning revulsion towards my own Party.
Now adding the constant capitulating on every issue from fiscal cliffs to Obamacare to amnesty, I can’t even marginally think of a reason to offer a single shred of support. And running away from all social conservatism and embracing homo-marriage... well, if that’s the case, not only will I no longer support the GOP, but regard it as an all-out enemy to be defeated and destroyed at all costs.
Is one in the hand better than two in the bush? Is it worth abanding major principles of Conservatism to move farther to the left? Is it worth selling your sole in hopes of getting someone to vote for you? The GOP is loosing its base. Changing sound morals and ideals will breed more hope and change opening the door for more socialistic policies. No wonder GOP voters stay home in utter frustration. The’re being told their principles are old fashion.
We are long past that time ~ I see no good reason to not tax exports in some manner. The more productive and wealthier the nation, the greater the return. At the same time eliminate import duties entirely so we can take advantage of other lowest cost producers (if there are any after we finish automating the heck out of this country).
An income tax is antiquated and discourages savings and investment.
Who the hell comes up with these insane ideas?
Queers hate everything about conservatives, and while Hispanics can be conservative at times, they hate queers and wouldn't vote for a party that pandered to both groups as though they were a linked group of voters.
Perhaps the RNC should make a trip to Lowes and Home Depot and ask a few Mexican day laborers what they think of queers? I would love to see that ass-whoopin’ on Youtube.

What the hell does this even mean? Has anyone stopped to think what this actually means? This goes against the very DEFINITION of a political party. A political party is a cabal of people with the same views on political issues that then tries to win elections. If you let in people who have RADICALLY different views to others, it no longer is a political party. I don’t know what the hell you’d call it. Are the RATS inclusive of people with different views to their party? NO! This kind of thinking has destroyed Republicans. By this logic, Obama could be a Republican, despite the fact that he’s a Marxist who voted for partial birth abortion. “Come on, guys! Big tent! Jeb Bush for president!” These people disgust me.

Let me say this. If the youth of this country are so brainwashed, so moronic, so self-abusing, that they would not be a member of a political party because its views don’t serve the interest of a TINY group of deviants who make up a miniscule 2-3% of the population... then I don’t want them in the party. Our society truly has been twisted when heterosexual young people name homosexual marriage as their no.1 issue, or even an issue at all.
Reince is pro-gay marriage. That’s the only conclusion you can come to. They want to embrace it, but they don’t want to lose votes, so they’re cloaking it in ‘diversity’. We see right through it.

If you go pro-gay, pro-infanticide, pro-welfare, or take up any of the Democraps positions, the bottom will fall our of the entire party. You’ll be finished, and in some ways, you already are! And no, libertarians are not going to appear en masse at the voting booths. They didn’t for Gary Johnson. They won’t for you. You can forget presidential elections. In America a political party is made up of a wide variety of people of some degree of similar sensibility regarding the public good. They are more affiliated with their factions than the party per se, and yet their factions are considered strong coalition partners within the party structure. The purpose of the party is to put members of the various coalition partners into public office where they influence the debate and consideration of laws concerning the issues of interest to the partners.
American parties, where the array of issues they focus on is already known long before the election, or in legislatures or the Congress, strive to win elections.
IN BRIEF ~ Coalition politics in America takes place outside of the legislature or the Congress. Coalition politics in Europe takes place inside the parliament.
The big driver behind this difference is simple ~ we have a HUGE COUNTRY compared to the Europeans with democratic processes in place. Dealing with all the various factions and special interests in America is too big a job for Congress ~ although Democrats do try ~ particularly with those 'special' special interests.
The Democrats commit a particularly disastrous political crime when they force uniformity of process on all the states. We need to keep that in mind as we deconstruct the unconstitutional edifice they've erected.
The establishment party nobles are constantly attempting to reach out and grope their enemies: homosexuals, Democrats (but then I repeat myself).
They would welcome with ‘open arms’ those sodomites who pick their teeth after their sinful lovemaking in order to extract the fecal particulates that accumulate during their trysts.
