Teacher booted from Portland School District after protracted battle with Planned Parenthood
Life Site News ^ | Mar 22, 2013 | STOPP

Posted on 03/23/2013 5:35:52 AM PDT by IbJensen

March 22, 2013 (American Life League) - An exemplary math and computer science teacher has been unjustly escorted out of Benson High School by police following a protracted battle with school officials about Planned Parenthood’s presence in the school and its association with his students.

(Bill Diss)

Bill Diss was notified on Tuesday after the last student left his class that he was being placed immediately on administrative leave “pending a recommendation to the superintendent that you be dismissed from your employment with Portland public schools for reasons that have been discussed with you.” The mild-mannered Mr. Diss told STOPP that he was given only a few minutes to gather his belongings before police escorted him out. He was ordered not to return to the Portland, Oregon, school where he has taught for 11 years.

Mr. Diss is an outstanding teacher, who recently was awarded certification and recognition as the only teacher in Oregon who is qualified to teach college level computer science to high school students for dual credit. He has taught at the college and high school level for a total of 18 years.

Planned Parenthood has been in pursuit of Mr. Diss since 2007 when he began organizing efforts to stop Planned Parenthood. A STOPP press release from February of 2009 noted that Planned Parenthood of Columbia Willamette wanted Bill Diss’ teaching license revoked. The press release quoted American Life League’s Jim Sedlak: “Bill has organized one of the most effective efforts against Planned Parenthood in the country. It’s no surprise Planned Parenthood will resort to anything—even going after his teaching license—in order to silence him.”

Bill was opposing, on his own time, outside of any school activities, the construction of a Planned Parenthood killing center in an African American neighborhood in Portland. The Planned Parenthood business was eventually built, and today targets minority women for abortions.

Planned Parenthood was unsuccessful in its revocation bid but, incredibly, a decree came from the school district that Bill could not indicate that he was a teacher at Benson or that he taught for the Portland schools when he was giving talks outside the school.

Things really started heating up again at the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year when Planned Parenthood of Columbia Willamette began to push its Teen Outreach Program (TOP) in partnership with Benson High School. The program is fueled by a multi-million dollar Obamacare teen pregnancy prevention grant, funneled through a coalition of Planned Parenthood affiliates. Benson High is located in the inner city, where sixty-two percent of the students qualify for free or reduced price lunches.

On September 17, 2012, Planned Parenthood operatives entered Mr. Diss’ classroom where he was tutoring students in basic math skills and other subjects. They expected to be given the floor to recruit students for the Teen Outreach Program. Because Mr. Diss had been notified that TOP representatives were coming to speak to the class and they produced ID showing they were from Planned Parenthood rather than TOP, Mr. Diss asked them to leave his classroom. They left, and a few moments later the principal and vice principal came to remove Mr. Diss from class.

The next day he was forced to sit through a Planned Parenthood presentation. “They were extremely aggressive in obtaining the children’s signatures by promising them all sorts of gifts and cash,” Bill said. Planned Parenthood filed a formal complaint against Mr. Diss with the school. You can read STOPP’s coverage about the events of that day and the TOP permission forms here.

Mr. Diss later discovered that the TOP permission form that was sent home the first day of school to Vietnamese-speaking parents used his name in a way that made it seem that he approved of the program. Mr. Diss’ attorney sent a notice to Planned Parenthood and Portland Public Schools complaining of defamation and demanding a retraction of information they sent to parents that indicated he approved of Planned Parenthood and the TOP program. He also noted harassment, emotional distress, and civil rights violations by the school in persecuting him and his Christian faith—all of which have been ongoing since the beginning of the school year. The school never issued a retraction.

Since then, Mr. Diss has received biweekly letters from the school, in effect nit-picking his teaching skills and accusing him of things like too much repetition in his mathematics classes, where he was told he could not teach the multiplication tables to math deficient students and could not review factoring. Students were allowed to withdraw from his classes because they did not want to do the extra work required to bring them up to speed in math. He has been through a dozen administrative hearings this year. Two weeks ago he was informed that his contract will not be renewed next year. When he was booted from the school on Tuesday, the only reason given was “for reasons already discussed.”

It is outrageous that Mr. Diss—an outstanding, well-loved teacher—has been totally trampled by this school district at the behest of Planned Parenthood because he cares deeply about the welfare of his students, and for exercising his First Amendment rights to speak out about the injustice of having Planned Parenthood in the community and in the classrooms. The TOP program he objects to even allows students to leave the campus after hours with Planned Parenthood employees.

Let us not forget, Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette is the same organization that is behind the disgusting video website Take Care Down There that features skits with such titles as “Horse Penis Virus,” “Bring your sister,” “I didn’t spew,” “Hot & heavy,” “Let me do me,” “Threesome,” and the “Down There Song.”

This is the influence that Mr. Diss is fighting. And this is what he has been harassed, and summarily dismissed, for fighting. If you are an Oregon resident who is concerned about this huge injustice, contact your state legislators and the state board of education and pass this information along to them, asking that they help right this horrible wrong. In addition, please pass this information along to other residents of Oregon and ask them to take action.

This is epidemic in our schools because of teacher unions that are in bed w/PP. Until someone stands up to these unions, this sort of thing will continue. Parents in this district should work hard to replace these school officials who play patty-cake with the evil Planned Parenthood arm of the Democrat Party.

The NEA has single-handedly ruined the education system, thanks to the complicity of local school officials and the central socialist government with their leftists sodomiate indoctrination and the systematic dumbing down of our children. A sin and a shame that we will all suffer for. I'd much rather work toward overturning evil school administrations and watch the millstone being tied around their necks rather than getting one for myself due to inaction.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Unions are **not** the fundamental problem with government K-12 schooling. They are merely one of the many symptoms of the undlying disease. So?...What is the fundamental problem?

Answer: Government K-12 schooling is the very definition of a program that is a socialist-entitlement, single-payer, compulsory-use, compulsory-funded, police-enforced, and GODLESS price-fixed monopoly cartel.

Solution: Conservatives and Christians! REMOVE YOUR CHILDREN IMMEDIATELY! Work to shut this government K-12 abomination down!

There are counties ( and even whole states) where, if Christians and conservatives removed their children the entire K-12 monstrosity would simply collapse!

Bull! No legisative body would tell me that I couldn’t say where I’ve been working for years. If a school board punished me for what I did on my own time, I would consider any contract I signed compelling me to comply with their decrees null and void.

Praise God for this teacher...and his valiant fight against the demonic PP.

GAZILLIONS OF CHINESE STUDENTS ARE DILIGENTLY STUDYING pre-calculus mathematics, nuclear physics, calculus-based quantum mechanics, trigonometry, linear and abstract algebra, analytical geometry, and so on.

Courtesy of PP in our schools K-12, American students are learning how to lap-dance, how to put condoms on bananas, where to get an abortion, and are being conditioned to be fodder for pedophiles......

CnsNews.com reported on The Future of Sex Education (FoSE) report, written by organized sex education advocates, “to create a strategic plan for sexuality education policy and implementation.”

Also involved are the American School Health Association, the National Education Association Health Information Network – the non-profit arm of the nation’s largest teacher’s union, the NEA – the American Association for Health Education and the Society of State Leaders of Health and Physical Education.

An advisory committee includes Planned Parenthood and the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN).

The authors argue that "too little school time" is devoted to instruction in HIV, pregnancy and STD prevention – a median total of 3.1 hours in elementary school, according to the CDC.

The report includes a glossary that defines gender expression, gender identity, gender roles, and transgenderism.......intended for school use.

The groups are pushing for federal legislation......and tax funding.

PROBABLE LEGAL ACTION: We need exposure of PP activities and whether they are in collusion with school personnel. We need to know the scope and dimenson of possible tax fraud, money laundering and misuse of non-profit status.

(1) misrepresenting use of tax dollars raised from education bond referenda;

(2) misuse of tax-exempt monies;

(3) non-profit fraud;

(4) laundering non-profit tax-free monies,

(5) tax fraud.

REFERENCE Under the Bank Secrecy Act, banks are required to establish, implement and maintain programs designed to detect and report suspicious activity indicative of money laundering and other financial crimes.

“The Bank Secrecy Act was enacted to protect the public from harm by identifying and detecting government fraud, money laundering from criminal enterprises, terrorism, tax evasion or other unlawful activities,” the special agent in charge for Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation, explained.

L/E needs to examine school bank accounts used to pay for PP activities.

<><> Joint bank accounts might be used to facilitate the transfer of education bond revenue---to pay for personal and private expenses, credit cards, real estate subsidies and vehicle purchases.

<><> To cover their tracks, fake invoices might be created to falsify that money deposited into accounts was being used for legitimate purposes.

The scheme might be advanced by issuing phony statements of payments from muni, federal and state sources that actually covered the transfer of funds for other uses.

<><> L/E should be asked to get ahold of: (1) copies of checks, (2) wire transfers, (3) account statements, (4) invoices, (5) bills, (6) delivery tickets, (7) correspondence including e-mail, contracts, loan agreements, and, (8) any other books or records.

L/E should also explore (a) monies paid to brokers, sub-brokers, (b) family members, (c) mortgage brokers, (d) financial managers, and, (e) real estate agents, brokers, and developers.

<><> L/E should scrutinize non-profit bank accounts for suspicious activites: (A) large deposits, (B) funds transferred from one account into another, (C) frequent requests for withdrawals.

<><> Bank records might also show diversions to secret LLC other accounts, to operate personal businesses. Fraud can also be facilitated by withdrawals, gift cards purchases, credit card purchases and intrabank transfers from govt accounts into personal accounts.

<><> A huge tipoff is whether bank withdrawals support payments for real estate, investment and stock holdings, jewelry, luxury vehicles, resort travel and gifts from luxury outlets.

=================================================

Taxpayers demand the Bank Secrecy Act be employed to prosecute NON-PROFITS using govt fraud to advance hidden agendas.

Bill Diss was a classmate of my brother at Regis High School in Denver back when it was still located in North Denver. My family became acquainted with the Diss family as both attended St. Francis de Sales School near Alameda and Sherman in Denver.

The Diss family lived in a huge house that butted up against the south side of The Denver Country Club. William Sr. and Minnie Diss had ten children: Martha, Theresa, Eleanor, Bill, John, Lucy, Fred, Beth, Catherine and Sarah. They set a good example for all their children to emulate. Good to learn that Bill has been willing to take up his cross and is defending the truth.

The key to eliminating this situation is abolition of the Federal Government’s Department of Education.

They are the source of income for these programs, including Planned Parenthood. No one works for free, even commies.

Every state in the union has a state Department of Education, and local control is far superior to long-distance dictatorship. The Fed’s input is nothing more that a tax-supported, highly-centralized, big-government organ for anti-God propaganda.

The NEA is just a bunch of tools used by the communists in this country. This is so typical of unions today in this country. I saw that with the ILWU - International Longshore & Warehousemen Union - last year. The local rank and file are, by and large, good people led around by state labor leaders whose arms are being twisted by national labor leaders. Those national labor leaders are patently communists, taking orders from the Chicago-centered, Obama regime and bankster oligarchy.

"It was a ruined idea from the very beginning. It only took one to three generations of socialist-entitlement and compulsory K-12 schooling to give the nation Franklin D. Roosevelt with his many socialist and compulsory programs."

Then you have a VERY short-sighted view/knowledge of history. "Public Schools" worked just fine as long as funding and control were at the LOCAL level.

Many of them were as good or better than the best private schools working with less funding and a "lesser" class of students.

The problems started when the influx of money to the schools (and thus control) moved from the local community to the state and then later to the federal level.

The idea that public schools of any sort are automatically "bad" is ludicrous.

“The idea that public schools of any sort are automatically “bad” is ludicrous.”

Actually, the system began to rot from within when atheist/socialist John Dewey became the dominant influence in American education. The reading methods were sabotaged, resulting in ever-increasing illiteracy until the rate now hovers around 40% to 50% and higher in some school districts. Every child who can’t read becomes a low-information voter.

“...and accusing him of things like too much repetition in his mathematics classes, where he was told he could not teach the MULTIPLICATION TABLES to math deficient students and could not review FACTORING.”

(I’ll leave the Planned Parenthood end of this story to others, and I’ll comment on the above)

So, here we are. A MATH TEACHER is losing his job, in part, because he was attempting to teach multiplication and factoring to kids who OBVIOUSLY hadn’t learned it in the wonderful and progressive Portland School District.

Yes, you parents of public school kids, feel free to SNICKER, smug that it cannot happen in your WONDERFUL public school because you see the teacher in church once in a while, but it’s NO DIFFERENT...except that they hide it better.

People of Texas are just learning this with CSCOPE (look it up), which was a TOTAL end-around of our (otherwise very good) school accountability system. 75% of our schools now use it, but no one really knows what’s in it, because parents simply don’t have access to the materials. And with 75% of our public schools using it, that means that a lot of WONDERFUL PUBLIC SCHOOLS are on that list.

So go snicker away, while your children get their lives wrecked, especially if they’re white, and ESPECIALLY if they’re male.

The public schools adopted the Prussian model after the civil war, which ipso facto, meant schools operated by the state. But public education, as originally under stood embraces the private schools as well, just as public heslth embraces all private medical facilities. Yes, the schools have socialized because the private schools are largely unable to compete financially.

Yes, this is true. But his influence didn't begin to assert itself until the early 20th Century. Locally funded and controlled schools began with the first colonial settlements, so there is a lengthy period of time in which said public schools work just fine. Many of them were initiated by religious groups, true....but they were still locally funded and controlled.

The real death blow was "desegregation", in which courts basically took over many schools or placed them under (ultimate) federal control.

Locally controlled socialist-entitlement and single-payer schooling is merely locally controlled collectivism.

It only took one to three generations of locally controlled collectivist schooling to give the nation voters who were comfortable with Franklin D. Roosevelt and his compulsory-use, socialist-entitlement, and single-payer programs.

Children who attend collectivist and compulsory ( that means police enforcement) risk learning to be comfortable with government compulsion and socialism.

At first Obamacare won't be that bad. It will take a few generations to fully extinguish the moral and ethical values now found in the workers in today's health system. ( schools). Then when the true horror of socialist medicine ( schooling) is fully felt we will see the same arguments now used to urge reform of the government schools. For example:

Socialist medicine ( socialist-entitlement schooling) worked just find as long as the funding and control of the death panels was on the LOCAL level.

Many socialist hospitals( socialist-entitlement K-12 schools) were better than the best private hospitals ( schools).

The problem with socialist medicine ( socialist K-12 schooling) started with the influx of money to the hospitals ( collectivist school districts) and away from local control.

Socialist medicine ( socialist-schooling)was just fine until the unions moved in.

etc...etc....etc.

Fundamentally, socialism doesn't work. Socialist-entitlement and single-payer K-12 schooling gave the nation socialist presidents and was doomed to fail.

"The public schools adopted the Prussian model after the civil war, which ipso facto, meant schools operated by the state.

Perhaps true in some areas, but where I grew up (south Louisiana), there was still plenty of local control in spite of the intrusion of the state government.

"Yes, the schools have socialized because the private schools are largely unable to compete financially.

That may at one time have been true, but given the exponentially increasing cost of public education is certainly no longer so. The USA spends more for (and gets less out of) "public education" than any other country.

We could save oceans of money by closing the public schools and letting parents utilize the private sector and/or home school their children. Public schools cost a minimum of $10,000 per student whereas private schools cost on average $7,000 per student.

Think of the possibilities: Individual teachers (formerly employed by the public schools) could rent a single classroom from the now-bankrupt public school system and gather in as many voucher/supported students as they think they can teach. Those teachers who teach their subject well would make far more money than they are receiving now from the public/socialist system.

Remember that in the time of Adam Smith parents paid the professor directly.

1) The NEA is what it is because **teachers** ( the majority of them) make it that way. Please remember that parents, school board members, and representatives have NO control over the NEA. ONLY ONLY ONLY **TEACHERS** make the NEA what it is.

These are the teachers who are greatly influencing the next generation of voters and will have great impact on the moral fiber of our nation in the near future.

2) Locally controlled collectivism is still COLLECTIVISM! Fundamentally, government schooling is ( and **always** has been) a socialist-entitlement, single-payer, compulsory-use, compulsory-funded, and price-fixed monopoly cartel! At first it offered the students a lukewarm and generic Protestant worldview. Today's collectivist K-12 schools are utterly GODLESS!

Government socialist-entitlement schooling is a price-fixed monopoly cartel that is giving its services away for the price of “tuition-free”.

In many many many counties around this nation there are **NO** private schools. My county is one of these counties. Private schools ( mostly religious and church-based) were put out of business decades ago. It is very hard for a business to compete against a price-fixed monopoly cartel.

Prussian-style, socialis-entitlement, police-enforced, and single-payer schooling was a progressive wet dream from the beginning. Progressives pushed the idea. Progressives have always controlled teacher training and curriculum development, and progressives have always been pushing for increasing secularization and now complete godlessness. Progressives have always been pushing at the edges on the envelope of community moral standards.

Fundamentally, socialist-entitlement, single-payer, state compelled, and price-fixed cartel schooling **was** and **is** built upon a corrupt foundation.

**IT CAN NOT BE REFORMED** ( Yeah! I am shouting.)

NEA = Satan = Communist bump
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Teachers ARE the NEA. The majority of teachers make the NEA what it is. If teachers didn’t want the NEA to be what it is, it would change. Parents, school board members, and legislators have NOTHING to do with the NEA. If the NEA is corrupt it is because the majority of TEACHERS ARE CORRUPT!

Remember that when some teacher wants you to think that they are a resurrected Mother Teresa.

Remember this when you see sweet and innocent children boarding their school prison buses.

> Public schools cost a minimum of $10,000

Where do you live? Here in NH, it’s closer to $20,000 per student, and that doesn’t even include the teachers pensions or the bus contracts.

> Remember that in the time of Adam Smith parents paid the professor directly.

The Noah Webster model of Bible based education served this country best. We achieved nearly 100% literacy under that model. Participation in the local school was voluntary. Home schooling was common, especially among the pioneers.

Then Horace Mann brought the Prussian Model of state-funded, compulsory education to the U.S. Within 50 years, the Noah Webster model had been almost completely displaced by the Prussian model.

In the early 20th century, John Dewey introduced “Progressive Education”. The name speaks for itself.

Carl Rogers, in the latter half of the 20th century, introduced “Affective Education”, where teachers were to become “change agents”. This was cut from the same cloth as the Maoist “Cultural Revolution”.

Tax-funded, government-run, compulsory education MUST BE abandoned. While we still have the law on our side to do this, we must remove our children from these government school collectives and educate them ourselves, or form our own local school cooperatives.

You “get it”.

It is very discouraging to read these threads and posts. When even conservatives fail to recognize that government schooling is the very definition of a godless socialist and police-enforced program...well...I fear our nation is doomed.

Heh. Home-schooling 8 kids right now. The “professionals” would call two of them, “special needs”. My experience is that they’re ALL “special needs”. That’s what makes home schooling so effective.

However, taxes keep going higher and higher. The public school establishment adamantly opposes sharing any of this with non-state schools. Charter schools are only “semi-private,” The controlling idea is that every child is a ward of the state, that if you want an upgraded education for the child in your custody, then it has to come out of your pocket. To put it another way, only the rich and other members of “the ruling class “really get to “own” their children.

There's some great conservative thinking on this thread including yours.

The Northwest Ordinance was the government charter for the public education system. (Among other purposes for that document, such as formalizing the process by which states were formed out of territories.) This foundation of public education explicitly declared that RELIGIOUS PRINCIPLES are an essential part of education, since they are the source of our moral code.

The Declaration of Independence says that we're "endowed by [our] Creator with certain unalienable rights, among them life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." It also states that the Founding Fathers "pledge our lives, our fortunes and our sacred Honor" to making the new Republic succeed.

Who was this "Creator"? Why did they believe that He was the source of what are now called "natural" rights? And why did they believe their honor to be sacred if their fortunes and even their very lives were not? What does "sacred" mean anyway?

Left-wing secularists are quick to point out that only the Constitution has the force of law, and the Declaration does not. But the Declaration has value beypnd measure as a statement of our Founding Fathers' PRINCIPLES, much like the party platform of the Democratic Party. And the Northwest Ordinance has the same force of law as the Constitution.

I understand the need for federal and state level funds for public schools. After all, many areas are impoverished (particularly with a socialist government destroying jobs and any incentives to create new jobs), and providing such funds enables children in those regions to get good quality educations, and escape the poverty cycle.

But federal and state level control of the curriculum, and especially extra-curricular BS like Planned Parenthood and its culture of death, must be sharply curtailed. They need to be sure that a very basic and very robust system of teaching math, English reading and writing skills, and lab science (not sex education) is followed and interscholastic sports are conducted in a consistent and safe manner. That is all.
