This is a really funny article. They, liberals, are complaining about ballot stuffing in a non-scientific poll.

So, I guess if it were something, say like the Presidential Election of 2012, and 4 million “Deepers” (we’ll call them) stuffed the polls with fake ballots, there wouldn’t be a problem?

They sheepishly admit their BS online push polls aren’t scientific, but THEN decry the inevitable pitfalls of the results. Ha! What a bunch of lazy effing idiots. They want to do their cheating the lazy cheap way - just get ‘their’ sheeps to vote, not our people. It costs too much to do it the right way: Hire a BS polling organization to go through the motions, think up a bunch of duplicitous leading questions, and then have the staff writers analyze the results to fit their preconceptions.

I laughed when I read this piece.
More's the pity the Post didn't survey out state gun owners. Instead, they sat back in their comfortable offices and chucked out another fabrication.

Typical liberals.

A vote, straw vote or referendum can only be valid if the outcome is to their liking.

If not, they ridicule and belittle their opponents and demand revotes and recounts until they get a result they like.

There was a time when polling was a real opportunity for reporters and editors to get out of the office and find out what real people were thinking.
Now, the Post ignores the basics of journalism; no attribution, no digging, no follow up.

This tactic is straight from the Dem playbook, and it usually works (although I realize having the media push your narrative helps).

In order to win you have to be stronger, smarter and more determined than your adversary. Ergo, we have to out shout and call them out. This is not a chess game, its a contact sport.

This is really funny stuff:

So, you're probably wondering, if the polls are easily manipulated and non-scientific, why run them? Primarily because they engage readers in our product and, at some level, force people to think about issues we think are important.

They complain about online polls being manipulated, then admit they manipulate the public into viewing their "product" and "thinking" about issues that the newspaper thinks are "important to them."

I don't know the last time I read such a load of BULLSH*T in my life.

I agree wholeheartedly with this statement:

Online polls are, at best, informative. They are not — and should never be considered — statistically valid on the order of a scientific poll. Like many things you find online, they should be viewed with skepticism.

But the poll's result — with 70 percent of respondents favoring a ballot measure that would overturn a ban on high-capacity magazines — is largely insignificant.

Guess what, Denver Post? ALL online polls are insignificant. There are few of them that are not stuffed by one side or the other.

If you had a poll that said, "Have you ever voted in an online poll, including this one?" at least 25% would say NO.

These kind of “polls” have become the signature of shrinking, big city dailies.

First, run a bogus survey with limited appeal. Follow up with a phone interview with one of the “affected.”

Then, it's the Sunday Weeper Piece (trade mark registered) with a pix of the whole family huddled around some worn out sofa.

I could write this entire series drawkcab.

One of the comments from a Post's reader:

Sounds like damage control at the official state-run newspaper since the poll results didn't pan out like you had hoped.
Nevertheless, the DP should rejoice at the certain increase in traffic in spite of the mediocre product.

Assuming state House Bill 1224, which limits gun magazines to 15 rounds, will become law, how would you vote on a 2014 ballot measure to overturn it?

Total Votes = 149418

For. I oppose the limit and would vote to overturn the bill.
49.52 %

Against. I support the limit and would vote to uphold the bill.
50.31 %

Unsure. I haven’t decided yet.
0.155 %

The irony is that they don’t really know how much of an impact FReepers are having in swining the poll results.

They’re BLAMING us for it, but cannot prove a thing.

They don’t and can’t know that the results could very well be legitimate.
