KY:Great OC story from Elizabethtown

I have been a lurker on this site for a few months now and an interaction I had today made me want to register to tell everybody about it.

I was standing in Best Buy in Elizabethtown, open carrying as I do most every day for the last few months. As I am picking up some ram for my wifes computer a soldier in his BDUs walked up to me and put his hand out to shake my hand. "Thank you for exercising your rights." he said as he nodded down at my weapon. "Thank you for protecting them." I responded.

From there we talked for almost an hour about random things from guns to computers to farm animals. Such a great encounter.

The gun culture has been denigrated and marginalized in this country for far too long. We are far stronger than most realize. We are winning. We will win, if we do not give up.

While at Fort Knox I got to know that area and it has lots of great people. I hope all your open carry encounters are good ones.

I work for a retail store here in E-Town, KY and I've seen all manner of OC. There's been everything from Glock and Sig semi-autos to Ruger and S&W revolvers, including two elderly gentlemen who have hoglegs.

A couple of years back a new manager approached an OC customer and told him (incorrectly) that he wasn't allowed to carry in the store. That customer called corporate for clarification on this and corporate office has made is so that local carry regulations are now part of our standard new-hire training.

I wish the Kroger stores in Louisville were as accommidating. I’ve read a few horror stores on a local blog about their treatment of open carriers.

You should post them. Sunlight is the best disinfectant.
