The lawyer for a suspect in the shooting death of a Georgia baby who was killed in his stroller says his client is "absolutely" not guilty.

"My client is absolutely, 1,000 percent not guilty," public defender Kevin Gough, who represents 17-year-old De'Marquise Elkins, told The Associated Press. He made the comments Monday, while preparing for Elkins' first court appearance on a murder charge. It was scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday.

West [the mother] said she thought the 14-year-old looked much younger.

"That little boy did not look 14," West said.

At Monday morning's hearing, the 14-year-old came into the courtroom shackled and wearing a baggy orange jumpsuit, The Florida Times-Union reported.

He glanced at the few members of the media allowed into the courtroom for the initial appearance as he shuffled to a lectern facing Glynn County Magistrate Tim Barton.

The magistrate told the boy he can't set a bond since only Superior Court judges can do so in murder cases.

Well, gosh, if he is “absolutely” not guilty, then we have to believe him.

So he’s 1000 percent not guilty,
meaning he should get to kill 9 more “cracker babies” for free.

I think I read a story that someone riding in the back of the getaway car turned them in. I’m sure there’s a lot of pressure on that witness. The 14 yr old will probably also be used to put the shooter away.

I am certain this public defender will be replaced by someone who loves the spotlight and wants to build a race baiting career for himself.

This should be a pretty easy case to make, if De-Marquis is indeed guilty. After 4 shots he should be covered in gun-shot-residue.

I don’t care whether it as the 17 year old or the 14 year old that pulled the trigger. They both need to meet the needle.

“My client is absolutely, 1,000 percent not guilty.”

I remember OJ saying “I am 1,000 percent not guilt.”

Then it must have been the fourteen-year old.

There is no third door.

Well, the mother picked his picture out of a set of 24 only to be told “We have him in custody.” In other words, she identified him, and he already had a mug shot on file. So either he or the 14 year old pulled the trigger. Presumably the mother will be able to say which one it was.

Make no mistake about it, this is a tough prosecutorial case. There is an eyewitness-victim, IMO, eminently impeachable since she was actually shot twice and justifiably probably somewhat hysterical.

Then there's the generally reliable "Tyrone," defense. "Wasn't me. must be Tyrone who look like me." Probably pull 20 young males from the projects who look alike and confuse the witness/victim. Then there's the other kid. Who says he's the "other kid?" Sound like a slam dunk? It ain't.

Then, there's the missing murder weapon and all the forensics entailed. Common in the ghetto to have weapons stashed away from home. Unless a homie cracks, it will never be found.

Be ready for the Defense to "Try the Victim-Witness." Ms. West does not have the look of a "model citizen" to me. Throw in a black jury. This is a crap shoot from the git-go.

Best shot: cops take in a known gangster who they know had nothing to do with it and make his worthless life miserable until he tells them what really happened. Brunswick? There are 100 people in the projects who know exactly what went down and who was involved. Until there are teeth in the street, we won't.

hydrogen sulfide?

Natural product in some oil wells in West Texas.

Heavier than air, lethal like Carbon Monoxide.
