Because of asset seizures, I am starting my new company outside California
Pando Daily ^ | 3/25/2013 | BRYAN GOLDBERG

...

While the law stipulates that I must surrender this money, I refuse to acknowledge this as a tax at all. This is not a tax. This is an asset seizure plain and simple. The term “retroactive tax” is a despicable euphemism. It is no different than when Hugo Chavez used the benign-sounding “nationalize” to describe his seizure of private property in Venezuela.

Now before I go any further, let me tell you what I am not.

I am not a Tea Party member. I am not even a Republican. Twice I have voted for Barack Obama, and I was supportive of his tax compromise earlier this year. I am not a person who opposes paying taxes, even higher ones. I am a very reasonable person who respects the great opportunity that America has given to me.

But there is a very clear and unambiguous line between taxes — regardless of how high they are — and asset seizures. The State of California has taken money from me. Money that I already earned and paid taxes on, and I will not tolerate this act of theft.

Wait till the dumbass finds out that taxes in New York are as bad (if not worse) than California.

Hard to feel sorry for the morons that voted for Obama though. Personally, I think their assets should be the first to be seized.

Heh. Touche! Ya got me there.

I just think we need to help people understand instead of rejecting them because they didn’t “get it” as soon as we’d like.

Unfortunately we can’t be an exclusive club and get our way at the same time. The math doesn’t lie.

Clearly a liberal who has been mugged, just not mugged badly enough to get his head on straight and become a conservative.

I am not a Tea Party member gypsy. I am not even a Republican Jew. Twice I have voted for Barack Hitler and I was supportive of his tax compromise Nazi agenda earlier this year.

So now this genius is moving his new company to the east coast, New York, specifically, and he expects everything to be better. Truly, insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result.

"Shouldn't we be pleased that they've seen the light?"

You're missing out on an important fact: they never DO see the light. These people practice tribalism in politics. They are unable to EVER see past step one in any process. They refuse to acknowledge consequence. Even if they are aware of the negative consequences, they choose to ignore it for "a greater good". They truly are the lessors on the intelligence scale because they think with their hormones instead of their brains.

For instance: Gun Control to them = less guns = safer society so... the answer is: outlaw guns. That's it. There is nothing else to say, it's emotional to them and they can't reason with consequences.

Another example: We feel sorry for GroupX because their quality of life suffers for ReasonZ. We need money and there is only one place to get it: tax the wealthy. They can't comprehend the idea that conservatives "have no heart" when they refuse to hand over the cash. Again, it's emotional to them, they equate that refusal to hand over your cash to you being stingy bastard. They don't see past phase one of their plan.

I often compare them to the SouthPark underwear gnomes. If you haven't seen that episode, search it out and watch it... the relationship will become crystal clear.

These people cannot be turned, they are zombies for all intents and purposes. If they don't make the transition in their early 30's like most people who grow up and see reality, they never will.

Thanks swamp40. Bryan Goldberg writes:

Before I go any further, let me tell you what I am not -- I am not empathetic with Bryan Goldberg, and in fact I feel he got exactly what he deserves. Furthermore, in this excerpt he doesn't mention whether he voted for Governor Moonbeam and in favor of the Demagogic Party lock on the state legislature, but it's safe to assume that he did.

“Alrighty then... Moving from California to New York - now there is a brilliant move for you.”

LOL, I live in NY (actually work for a private manufacturing firm in upstate NY, quite the rare entity here), NY is California three years ago, just a matter of time, to quote Forrest Gump, stupid is as stupid does...

I respectfully disagree. Conservatism is an exclusive “club”. Those who have trouble with advanced math need not apply.

“While the law stipulates that I must surrender this money, I refuse to acknowledge this as a tax at all. This is not a tax. This is an asset seizure plain and simple.”

He’s right. It’s no different than what the Marxists did and what happens in South Africa and Rhodesia.

I’m SURPRISED no one tries a lawsuit against it. If a tax rate is set, people can plan for it. If it might go up retroactively, then what are they to do - hire a fortune teller to ‘see’ which way the polls are leaning? And this GRAB reaches back 10 months. Why not 10 years then - make “the rich” amend their tax returns (with penalties, of course) and pay back for their past 9 years of their “theft”.

I mean why not - what’s the difference?

I hope they seize his assets before he gets out. Let him enjoy what low-info voting brings.

“Shouldn't we be pleased that they've seen the light?”

The problem is that he has not seen anything. He is still carrying 99% of his leftist baggage. Maybe if he goes to NY and gets mugged, and then to MA and gets mugged, and then to NJ and gets mugged, and then to IL and gets mugged, he might start coming around. The only thing that I am pleased about is that he is not coming to NC.

Gosh!

I hope we can communicate the advantages of conservative thought without requiring advanced math. I think Ron Reagan did a pretty good job of that.

BTW, no shortage of advanced math here...

With all due respect to your strong contributions on FR, ma’am!

“I hope they seize his assets before he gets out.”

It is not a stretch to think that if emigration from states like CA begins to really snowball, they will charge an “exit fee’ like the IRS does on a national level. Especially when IRAs with all that deferred tax are involved.
