Rand Paul: American's wont pick crops for $8/hour when they can sit at home and get welfare

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., who has emerged as the key advocate for secure borders, keeping to the rules and an organized handling of the millions of illegal aliens now inside the United States says there is a clear goal that Americans should have for the newcomers: Make them taxpayers.

“What I’m saying is let’s get them work visas, normalize them, tax them, make them taxpayers,” the senator said in an exclusive interview with WND reporter Taylor Rose.

...

“You can’t have open borders and be a welfare state,” he warned. The solution is a secure border – and a process where someone on a work visa doesn’t get welfare, or someone with a green card doesn’t get welfare.

Paul said there are glitches, too, in America’s social services. There shouldn’t be 60,000 new people on the roles of the disabled every month, he said. In other words, America’s safety net sometimes is just too generous.

The reasons some Americans won’t work for the $8 per hour for an agricultural field worker, for example, is that they would rather do nothing and collect higher government benefits, he said.

He sure didn’t say this in front of that Hispanic group where he said he never met an immigrant who wanted a handout, and illegals are natural conservatives.

I agree. Rand is on probation with me. A lot of what he says sounds good but this is just a daydream with the kenyan in the WH. None of it will happen. Limit welfare to green card holders? No chance. Rand knows that.

I find it hard to read what is real with him and what is PR strutting.

2016 is his to lose as far as I concerned — his political reach is significant.

That's right. And once they become legalized as Rush Limbaugh said, they will vote for the democrats. “

I disagree with Rush lots but I heard him say this on HIS weekend review and I agreed 100%’

Rush said exactly what I been posting for months, put that they (legalized illegals) cant vote in the reform bill and not one Dem will vote for it.

I post that over and over. Dems just want those voters.

Has Paul stopped to consider that he’s signing on for a process to mint millions of future Democrat voters, both through legalizing illegal aliens and expanding legal immigration? They’ll vote to keep in place generous welfare policies that Paul claims to oppose.

Do libertarians ever stop to think about this?

He told the Hispanics that if they want to come and work in America then he is for finding a place for them.

As far as citizenship goes they get the same pathway as if they were in Mexico City. That’s if they want to apply for it.

As for voting, they wouldn’t get the citizenship for maybe 10-15 years or longer .I bet there will be a huge backup and this ONLY goes forward once they know the border is secure and have voted on it.

After 15 years or whatever they become citizens and can vote... by then you’d hope they would learn about the US constitution, free markets and that the GOP is the party of jobs and prosperity.

Something like less than 5% of illegal aliens work in ag jobs. We went through this when McLame claimed he had lettuce picking jobs that no one would take.

Not all of them would apply for citizenship and they get the same pathway as if they appled from Mexico City.

After 15 years you would hope they would learn bout the constitution and that the GOP is the party of jobs and prosperity.

It’s not a given they’re all going to vote Democrats. We’d have to educate them.

They all are on probation with me (although Cruz knows how to make me smile) and between Paul, Rub, Jeb Bush and Ryan we got endless double-talk.

Ryan sweets talks that Hispanic group with reach out crap (which didn't bother me) but then he comes out with this fantasy budget after admitting to Wallace on FNS that he is for path to citizenship.

Notice his budget was AFTER his reach out speech.
Like illegals are going to support his budget.

Rand says a million a year come and pick crops but only 65,000 get visas’. He wants them all to get visas.

Like the Hispanics who got amnesty in the 1980s are doing now?

American's wont pick crops for $8/hour when they can sit at home and get welfare

So make work a requirement for welfare benefits. (of course that would require TEApublican majorities in both houses and a Chief Executive.

They are going to be paying payroll tax. At the end of the year, any witholds as to income tax are going to be given back, and I believe they would qualify for Earned Income Credit and other credits. Social Security they may pay, but in the end, they won’t be paying income tax.

Then who will do the work?

The new arriving millions of illegal aliens who will surely follow any amnesty for the present illegals.

He’s for exact same path as if they applied from Mexico City.

Does it matter if they apply from Mexico City or from El Paso, Texas? They will be on the same path and in that queue. There is no special path for illegals under his plan. He treats them all as “immigrants”.

RE :”As far as citizenship goes they get the same pathway as if they were in Mexico City. That’s if they want to apply for it.”

Except the suckers who follow the rules must wait in Mexico City for it, but those too good for the rules get to work and live here instead, which means the rule breakers are well rewarded for doing it.

So if the Senate comes up with a bill that gives the illegal rule breakers Obama-care, which that poor rule-following sap waiting in Mexico city will obviously not get, will Rand oppose it?

All this talk about schemes where illegal entrants would not become citizens, but as long as their anchor baby children become citizens then the kid and parents are eligible for “entitlements” and the whole family will be just as anchored here as in the past.

I suspect he will oppose anything that gives them benefits, Obamacare, etc. There is no bill yet.
