Hiker and dog save man trapped for days in hole on California mountain

A California man and his dog are being credited with saving a man who was trapped for days in a hole on a mountain.

Ramon Llamas says he and his dog, a mixed breed named Mole, were hiking as they often do on a trail in Riverside, Calif. when Mole suddenly stopped.

"He kept on tugging at my pant and whining, pulling me," Llamas told MyFoxLA.com.

Mole led Llamas to a hole about the size of a plate, and Llamas says when he looked in he saw eyes staring back. Llamas says he originally thought there was an animal trapped inside the hole, but then heard a voice calling softly for water.

Exactly, what happened to the who, what, why , when , where of journalism.
This is a great story about the dog. However:

Who was the guy in the hole ?
How did he end up in the hole ?
Why was he out there in the first place ?
When? He had been in the hole for six days.

I saw this story on Fox this morning and it was the same there, all about the dog and its owner.

Family cat saves child in house fire in Brockport

The fire could have been much more devastating. Pearl’s nine-year-old grandson Kendran Hall was upstairs and nobody knew it. “If the cat hadn’t woke him up, we wouldn’t have found out until it was too late...The cat died in the fire. “His cat Stitch died to save him, to wake him up.”

I knew a dear elderly lady from new England. She died while taking a nap. Her beloved cat was by her side.

“Ramon Llamas says he and his dog”
The dog probably told the story this way: “So I was out hiking with my llamas, and guess what happened?”

Given the quality of "journalists" the schools turn out these days, I would actually expect the author of the article to write it that way. "Mr. Ramon and his llama were hiking when Mr. Ramon fell into a hole."

Christie, I’ve always loved dogs - and don’t have one right now. Almost can’t wait until I can find the right one to adopt.

The right one will find you. Six weeks ago I visited our local McDonald's on a Friday night for a quick bite. A starving puppy was trying to eat a hamburger wrapper. I picked her up and put her in my truck and took her home. The next morning, I took her to the shelter where they took a picture and my name as I didn't want to leave her there in a cage. Five days later I returned - they had no calls so she was likely dumped. I told them to tear up the picture as I would adopt her. She's now a healthy, active pup who gets along well with other people and my small 9-year old mutt. Don't know what she is - maybe a lab mix as she has webbed feet. Will be big though as her feet are large.

In the name of Mayor Bloomberg, Dave, I must arrest the dog.

Dogs rule! A cat wouldn’t do this.

I don't think I would like to bet my life on that statement. I have read of many instances where a cat has saved a family, etc. All animals are so much more than they appear to be. ;o]

‘Off to bed’ as well. Am gladly ending this on a ‘happy note’. An amazing story that was so close to an entirely different ending. My dogs are ready for bed too!
