Santorum vs. Sanford
Washington Post ^ | March 26, 2013 | Jennifer Rubin

Former South Carolina governor Mark Sanford is facing a runoff against Curtis Bostic for the GOP nomination for the state’s 1st Congressional District seat, which was vacated when Tim Scott was appointed to the Senate. One would think that Sanford’s infamous abandonment of his post to indulge in a fling with his Argentinian mistress would disqualify him from serious consideration by those who treasure “family values” or who think using public money for a dalliance isn’t the sign of a true fiscal conservative.more...

More proof you can no longer tell the difference between establishment republicans and democrats. They are ready to put up a republican "slick-willy like" candidate in Sanford, while back in 1998 they shouted "crucify him" to the democrats.

If he wants to remain viable for 2016 (or outside of presidential politics), there could be no bigger boost than helping to bring down a character like Sanford.

Santorum is probably the most active member of the 2012 field.

Is SC an “open primary” state where Democrats get to nominate the Republican candidates they want to run against?

Is anyone looking for a Sanford - Soros money trail?

South Carolina is an open primary state. I am unaware of any Soros connection.

Sanford is a slimy opportunist. Just like most of the politicians.

Sanford would get back in my good graces by going after Gramnesty’s Senate seat.

Tomorrow! Santorum to Campaign for Curtis Bostic in North Charleston and Summerville

Former Republican presidential candidate and Patriot Voices chairman Rick Santorum will travel to South Carolina on Wednesday, March 27 for two events with Curtis Bostic, candidate for Congress in South Carolina's first congressional district. If Sanford had a different mistress in every country on the South American continent he would still make a better senator than Lovely Linda Graham.

Rick Santorum is still fighting for us!

I think he would have won the presidency if he were the nominee. 4 million conservatives stayed home, rather than vote for moderate Romney.

If Rove et al. keep talking talking down the social issues, Santorum will begin to build a war-chest.

Rick is a good guy. He was our district's congressman before he won two terms in the U.S. Senate. A lot of Freepers jumped on us last year for supporting him rather than Newt Gingrich.

Now here is Santorum still trying to do the right thing while Newt is nothing more than a Dick Morris wannabe.

PPP polls

Sanford leading Bostic 53-40

STEVIE COLBERT’S SISTER leading Sanford in the general 47-45, tied with Bostic.

The left will have an orgasm if they steal this seat. John Stewart will dance an Irish jig and Rachel Maddow will forget she’s gay and start kissing every man she sees.

Step 1 in avoiding doom is not nominating Sanford for Christ sake. Personally I don’t give a crap about his adultery, his idiotic handing of it offends me much more, calling the other woman his soulmate on tv while still claiming he wanted to save his marriage was a real WTF, the man is an idiot. But many people hate him now cause he’s a cheater, like John Edwards. I trolled DU saying hey go easy on Edwards and no one agreed with me, no one. Sanford would be in serious danger of losing this seat. Looks it will be a fight either way. DAMN IT.

All set off by Jim DeMint quitting for no good reason. Maybe Haley should have put a seat warmer in, I hate having to defend our seats in special elections, seats are much more likely to change hands in specials.

Get Palin’s ass in there to stump for Bostic.

He couldn't. Governors can appoint Senators when a seat is vacant (17th Amendment, cl. 2), but must call a special election when a House seat is vacant (Constitution, Art. I, sec. 2, cl. 4).

Haley is a she and I mean maybe she should have appointed a seat warmer to the Senate seat instead of Scott.
