Mayors Gone Wild (Another member of ‘Mayors Against Illegal Guns’ arrested)

Mayors Against Illegal Guns member and Democratic Gainesville, Fla., Mayor Craig Lowe was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and property damage after police found him asleep in his car at the scene of a crash last Thursday.
Police said Lowe appeared intoxicated and his Honda Civic was badly damaged, according to WKMG in Orlando.
“I regret that my actions Thursday morning have disappointed so many friends, supporters, and citizens of Gainesville,” Lowe said in a statement. “I hope that in the future I will again prove worthy of the public’s trust and confidence.”
The Gainesville Democrat faces a mayoral runoff election on April 16. His arraignment is scheduled for April 11, according to the Florida Alligator.

The article lists five MAIG mayors who have been arrested, but since there are over 800, mostly Dems, I’d bet there are actually a lot more. That would be fun research for FReepers who have the time.

We already heave too much gun control.
This incident shows that we we need is more control of law breaking, arrogant politicians.
Yet this drunken slob wants more gun control laws.
He must think that more laws against criminals using guns will work better than the laws we have against people like him driving while drunk.
Maybe we should have a law requiring a background check and breathalyzer test for politicians every time they get behind the wheel of a car.
A three day waiting period would be good too.
Lowe is the latest member of Mayors Against Illegal Firearms to have a run-in with the law.
Marcus Hook, Pa., Mayor James Schiliro (R.) was arrested for reckless endangerment and other criminal charges last week after he allegedly fired a handgun inside his home during a booze-fueled argument with a 20-year-old man. Schiliro had allegedly served the minor alcohol and demanded sexual favors when the dispute broke out.
Other members and former members of Mayors Against Illegal Guns have previously been charged with felony corruption, assault of a police officer, and child sex crimes.

As an Elected Public Official he “KNOWS” that Driving under the Influence Can Cause DEATH, Shouldn’t he be charged with “Attempted Murder”??? And YES I believe that ANY and ALL Public Employees and Public Servants should be held to a HIGHER STANDARD than the Average Citizen, and YES I believe that in all cases where a “Public Servant” is CHARGED with an Offense like this, should be Charged and found GUILTY of ATTEMPTED MURDER.

The obvious solution is a three-day waiting period between the purchase of an automobile and its delivery, a limit on the number of automobiles an individual can purchase in a month, and a ban on large-capacity gasoline tanks.
That’ll make things safer!
