CNN would prefer we go back to cannons for Hog Patrol/Control.

The obvious answer is to switch to those painless drone kills implemented by the CIA, then every liberal will be happy.

Round up the hogs for relocation to Mecca, Medina, Qom, Damascus, Gaza, the West Bank and Cairo.

Give some to Ben Gazi too.

I do. Regularly. My brother brings them for me. I ask for females, from 80 to 120 lbs or smaller. He picks those to bring to me.

They are good eats.

I don't have any use for a 250 lbs tusker.

Never out of bacon.

CNN admits the wild hogs are a problem but agonizes over the fact that AR-15s are the ideal gun to do the job.

He should've gave the skirt wearing Anderson Cooper the real reason why there is a Second Amendment right. They hate hearing that.

As odd as it sounds, the hunters are losing this fight.

Wild hogs reproduce at a ridiculous rate. “Wild hogs will breed year round, but births peak in spring and fall. Gestation is 114 days, and a sow will give birth to anywhere from 1 to a dozen piglets. She can have 2 litters a year.”

They are overrunning Texas, to the point where after first authorizing hunting from private helicopters, the rules have been relaxed so that almost anyone can hunt wild hogs anywhere, not just their own property.

There are now half hour long videos of helicopter hog shoots, just the “greatest hits”. And they can’t kill them fast enough. It looks like Vietnam War file footage at times.

And they are spreading into Oklahoma.

Oddly enough, the phenomenon is happening elsewhere as well. German hunters killed some half a million wild boars in the first year of open season. The next year, they killed two million, and barely made a dent in their numbers.

As far as eating goes, not so good shot like that. What alot of people do is trap them, feed them a better diet for a period of time and then slaughter. Removes alot of the gamey taste.

I have. We hunted them growing up in north Florida/south Georgia. If we ate store bought pork it was at a friend's house as we never had it at home.

The pigs are everywhere.

No Oink About It, Feral Pig Problem Spreading
FoxNews.com:

"They’ve been spotted all the way from Texas to California to Michigan and in New York.

“It's estimated there are at least 4 million of them nationwide, but its impossible to count them all so there may be much more” said Carol Bannerman, a spokesman for the USDA Wildlife Services. "

What has caused their population to take off like it has? Is it just too many years of not hunting them and they hit a critical mass?

Good stuff. I have shot quite a few and prefer them to store bought pork.

Biggest one was a ~400# boar. I didn’t figure it would be any good but it didn’t stink so I processed it. We also had 76 dozen tamales made from it.

Recreational hunting is a vital cog in managing feral swine, but it is only effective if you kill a concentration of pigs. The AR-15 w/ 30-round mags is the perfect tool for the job.
