Half a century ago....I have lost so much of my artwork over the years.

But it had a big face of Berlioz done in a very 60’s-ish swirly pattern. He had big hair and a craggy face so it worked great!
Behind him were all his visions swirling around. Water color, pen and India ink, very intricate.

Would NEVER fit on a cd Jewel case or in an ipad window. LOL!

Chorus, Arias

It’s Palm Sunday, and it’s time for Jesus and his Apostles to enter Jerusalem. We are spared the image of a ride on an ass. This number was extended by Andy and Tim in the Nineties, and it’s inspired. The orchestration here sounds a lot like Prokofiev.

Hosanna

It’s beautiful Ma.

I cleared all the snow and ice from my deck.

Spots of snow have melted on the lawn and the grass was preserved as a dark green.

I have the windows open and the cat is digging it.

The birds are at the feeder.

I saw two ducks flying over yesterday morning. They will have a long wait for the lakes to thaw though.

Wednesday it was -26 at 0700 and 31 above at 1700. A spread of 57 degrees.

Good evening, Mac...*HUGS*

Hope your day went well. Daffodils happy?

My sister is arriving this evening from California, later than expected as her original flight out of Seattle was canceled. She and my Mom should have a good week’s visit while I’m working. I will be picking her up in a couple hours.

Chorus, Arias

The Temple Guards, looking like Darth Vader, turn up, and it’s Chicago 1968 all over again. Unlike Chicago, this time the police are routed. Other than Judas and Mary Magdalene, the other Apostles don’t get much singing time, but here Simon the Zealot gets his own lines within the chorus. Jesus gets the last word. The music for “Poor Jerusalem” is repeated by Pilate a minute later.

Simon Zealotes, Poor Jerusalem

Aria

A better edit would have included this with the previous number because it’s the same melodic material. Note that Pilate sings with only an acoustic guitar as accompaniment. Rice sets Pilate up as a somewhat sympathetic figure. The real Pilate was a vicious SOB who did what he needed to do in order to fulfill his mandate from Rome. Had he failed, he would have been recalled and told to fall on his sword.

Pilate’s Dream

I LOVE the melody of “Hosanna”. It reminds me a little of Prokofiev. (His first Symphony to be specific! )
