Claim: Germany Spends $110 Billion to Delay Global Warming by 37 Hours
Weekly Standard ^ | March 30, 2013 | DANIEL HALPER

Posted on 03/30/2013 7:51:21 AM PDT by grundle

Bjorn Lomborg claimed on John Stossel's television show last night that money isn't being spent well to combat "global warming":

"The Germans are spending about $110 billion on subsidies for these solar panels," said Lomborg. "The net effect of all those investments will be to postpone global warming by 37 hours by the end of the century."

"All those billions, for 37 hours delay?," asked Stossel.

"Yeah," said Lomborg, "so remember them in [the year] 2100 and say, 'Wow.'"

Stossel clarified, "You believe in global warming and man-made--"

"Global warming is real," said Lomborg, "and it is we need to fix. But we should fix it smartly, and not in a very, very costly way as we're doing it now. Germany is probably spending $660 for every ton of CO2 they're cutting."

Clearly, not enough. They need to step it up and get serious about fixing this problem. Is a quadrillion too much to ask??

Government subsidies squander capital and lead to poverty. The “Green” movement is weakening the entire EU and eroding Western culture. Its all neo pagan earth worshiping nonsense.

Any time you see a Global Warming proponent who has managed to rise above the average idiot-kook-alarmist stage, one that involves media actually listening to and responding with on a continual basis, you have to realize there is MONEY involved. A hell of a lot of it.

The idea that ANYTHING will delay ANYTHING on a global scale for 37 hours in a world where so-called climatologists can’t even reconcile past truth with model predictions without massive lying and cheating (EA CRU, NASAs Hansen, Michael Mann et al) is patently ridiculous.

As in the US, the money is being spent to buy the votes of fools. Given the vote buying as the primary motive you should easily see that despite the failure of these programs to have any effect whatsoever on the climate they are, in fact, wildly successful.

You need lots of fools. But that has never been a problem.

False. They wasted the money altogether. There is no global warming. It stopped 20 years ago m

In a nutshell or in one sentence the global warming scam on display.

Even if there was such a thing as global warming, it’s doubtful that they are saving any energy. First you have to build the factories to build the panels. Then you have to build the panels. Then you have to truck them to their destination and install them. Then you have to dispose of them in the proper green way. Then you have to install batteries and other equipment in your house in order to make any use of them. Then you have to replace and dispose of the batteries from time to time. . . .

And on and on. By the time you add all that up, it’s doubtful whether you save any energy at all.

They just need to bombard the Sun with magnets....

-- Sunspot formation is triggered by a magnetic field, which scientists say is steadily declining. They predict that by 2016 there may be no remaining sunspots, and the sun may stay spotless for several decades. The last time the sunspots disappeared altogether was in the 17th and 18th century, and coincided with a lengthy cool period on the planet known as the Little Ice Age.

Come 2100 the greedy scam scum will have an excuse as to why global warming hasn’t come and done its dastardly deeds. It’s like the boogie man in a fairytale, and the general public of the world can’t grow up to see that fear mongers are telling the tales.

Obviously, the leftists in other countries let their legislators throw money down idiotic black holes, as well. It isn’t just OUR legislators!

Of course, when you are a leftist elitist, spending OPM (Other People’s Money) comes as easily as corruption, sleaze and nannystatism.

It was never vetted scientifically. People think that science is too complicated for most people so they trust the “scientists.” Scientists are treat like all knowing religious leaders.

One thing that was never discussed is what are the accuracies of the computer models and the data fed into those models.

Apparently, the models are diverging from reality. Well duh! Apparently, it isn't a done deal.

‘”The global temperature standstill shows that climate models are diverging from observations,” says David Whitehouse of the Global Warming Policy Foundation.’

Lesson:
1. The sun is a million times larger than the earth.
2. The sun is a ball of fire.
3. The earth is a rock.
4. The earth is a speck in size in comparison to the sun.
5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question:
1. How do less than specks plan to control the sun?

I wonder how we will be able to tell if they were successful with the delay. I’m thinking that they did so much already that they could halt all operations and discover that global warming has been delayed “indefinitely”.

Lol. Ironically, your “logic” would make sense to these scientists.

Actually, the sun is a “comfy 70 degrees Fahrenheit.” So not to worry.

… And the Paleochronologists know that their primary proxies diverge from observations as well. And the statisticians know that the biologists are not applying the calculations correctly. and the meteorologists know that the warming isn’t occurring in the right places to tie what warming there is been to CO2. and the archaeologists know that it is clearly been warmer in the past than it is now... and so forth…

… But each differs to the others without knowing the flaws in the adjoining areas of expertise.

Former climate skeptic Bjorn Lomberg,

He has never been a skeptic. He has always been a warmist. Why the left hates him so much is because he believes too much money is being wasted on trying to stop climate change and the money could be better used to make sure everyone has drinking water, etc.

Each would know that any type of modeling is subject to error.

Climate models are created from theories (approximations) and highly complicated, interdependent, nonlinear systems. That doesn’t account for the massive scale of Earth’s climate system.

Now for the data. How accurate is the data? Was it taken near heat islands. Is the data skewed because lack of precision of the equipment, knowledge of the person taking the measurements, equipment calibration, etc. etc. I suggest that current methods are crude at best.

Question to anyone modeling a system — what is your estimate of the precision of your measurements and models? How would that manifest itself in errors short term and long term. Are the models and data accurate enough to bet the future of our economy and well being on them?

“Each would know that any type of modeling is subject to error.”

To be clear, I’m not making an assumption here on their assumptions. I talk with a lot of midling-layer scientists. Most of them I speak to seem generally aware of the flaws and things that need to be worked out in their own field. But they appear completely unaware - and unbelieving – that it’s not just their own field.

It is very much like “the Emperor’s new clothes”. They just can’t believe the audacity involved.
