St. Mary’s College of Maryland to Implement “Meatless Mondays” Pilot Program [vegetarian tyranny]
St. Mary's College newspaper ^ | Feb. 1, 2013 | Press Release #13-015

Posted on 03/30/2013 7:23:07 PM PDT by WhattheDickens?

The resolution to implement Meatless Mondays was unanimously passed by the St. Mary’s College SGA in early December after months of inter-campus debate. According to the resolution, the concept of Meatless Mondays upholds the college’s mission to be environmentally sustainable by decreasing its dependence on factory farming. The eight-week long trial program will cease the serving of meat, with the exception of deli meats, in the Great Room (the college’s main dining hall) on Mondays. Meat options will continue to be available at other campus eateries, including the Grab-n-Go and the Upper Deck.

How absurd. Meatless Friday’s has been a true Catholic tradition for eons. Leave it to liberals to turn it upside down with the wrong day of the week.

They don’t see it as the wrong day of the week. They see it as adding another day.

I wonder if you can get a “Degree of Stupidity” from this college?

Didn’t they try this in grade schools and it failed utterly? Kids were throwing away their “healthy” lunches and sneaking chocolate syrup and P&J sandwiches. These fools think it will work any better with adults?

You lost me as soon as I read the liberal buzzwords . . . “environmentally sustainable”. Give me a break! I exist, barely, in a family of over-educated environmentally aware Jackwagons that need help putting on their velcro closure Birkenstocks. These people need to withstand a serious ass whooping and set straight on the moral compass of what this country was supposed to be all about.

Seems to me that some local burger joint might have 1/2 price burger night om Mondays. This would put a quick end to this nonsense. I’m just sayin’

Wouldn’t meatless Fridays been more in line with tradition?

If you’ve ever eaten “mystery meat” at a college dining hall - you’d realize that EVERY day is meatless ...

All you hunters out there need to stop senselessly killing animals for food. Buy your meat at the grocery store like everyone else does.

Hitler was a vegetarian.

Interesting, I just double-checked, and it's (likely) true! No wonder he was such a sickie (mentally and physically).

Apparently, he also was gay (or bi) as well, but that is debated by historians.

Why not Fridays? As far as dining hall, $ talks and BS walks. Most student who want to eat meat will do so anyway.

Despite the name, I think it is a public university named after the county in Maryland.

One of my favorite quotes from Sarah palin's Going Rogue:
If God had not intended for people to eat animals, He wouldn't have made them out of meat.

This was where I went to college. I don’t know how the food is now, but it used to be so bad we would all end up eating cereal for dinner anyway.
