Leading gun-control advocate Mark Kelly warned Republican senators Sunday that trying to block a vote on new firearms legislation that includes universal background checks could hurt their re-election efforts.

Kelly, a former astronaut and Navy captain, directed his remarks to Sens. Rand Paul and Marco Rubio, among five Republican senators who have suggested they will filibuster a debate and full floor vote.

“They should listen to their constituents” and not get in the way of the debate, Kelly told “Fox News Sunday.”

Yes, Mr Kelly, the politicions should listen to their constituents.

Those constituents include millions of Americans who own & use guns for a number of reasons & who have NEVER been in any kind of trouble with the law. Until there is a revolution, they likely won’t ever be in any kind of trouble.

They are being unjustly punished by You & Obama & others for things they never participated in.

Perhaps you could get off your high horse over your wife’s injuries and look a little harder at the full story.

I am sorry for what happened to your wife.

BUT—It has been well established since then that the person who harmed her was having severe mental issues.

The only mental issues most Americans are having is going crazy dealing with Obama & Holder & Pelosi & Reid and others.

Isn't she the daughter of the Democrat criminal that Sarah Palin kicked out of office?
She's not even a believable RINO. You can see right through her.

And given that Dingy Harry can’t even scrape together 40 Democrat votes in the Senate, it appears as though The Space Cadet is talking to the wrong crowd.

Kelly is really enjoying his new-found celebrity, isn’t he? Looks like he’s another Schumer who just can’t avoid a camera if there’s one in sight.

I think that's called "unavoidable for comment". ;)

Just because he was Navy and an astronaut does not make him “keeper of me”!
Never heard a beep out of him till his wife got shot!

It just takes time and patience, and a lot of previewing.

I recommend Have fun, and nail the traitors to the wall.

Have you noticed how every A-HOLE on the left “warns” Conservatives and Republicans not to do their sworn duty or be silent while they are supposed to be able to do or say anything no matter how outrageous? Since our side is demonized no matter what I would to hear our Reps tell these morons to just STFU and crawl back in their holes!

It would only help Rubio to be involved in a Filibuster. His flirtations with amnesty have crippled him in the eyes of many voters. Not all Democrats believe that we should reward law breakers much less all Conservatives.

Nobody will. He’s a “tragic figure” who’s wife got shot by a loony. A loony who should have never been able to get a gun, and wouldn’t have but for the perfidy of the local Rat Sheriff, who blamed Sarah Palin.

He can’t be challenged, the Rats know it and the lying media knows it too. That’s why they’re even willing to overlook how his carelessness caused the death of a sea lion in California.

He is on Bloomberg’s payroll and he is lobbying Congress for that pay without being registered. He is violating the LDA IMHO.

Honor stops when one tries to usurp the rights of others. Mark “Giffords” is a traitor to any free man.

Well, good point, they don’t care. But they do desperately want to get past that motion to proceed (aka “start/have the debate”), because after that, they can craft the bill with simple majority votes, and that when they’d put in all the nasty crap that would never survive a sixty vote threshold. Our guys know this, and that’s why they’re preparing to stop them at the front door. If the dems get the motion to proceed, we could see the same sequence of unfortunate events we saw with Obamacare. Kelly is trying to drain public support for that first and most important stand by framing it as “let’s just have the debate.” No, let’s not. Let’s call it settled that our 2A rights are not to be infringed upon, negotiated, or in any other way compromised. Go debate yourself, Mr. Kelly, you certainly haves the personalities for it.

His wife was shot by a mentally ill man who had been identified by numerous sources as being dangerous. None of this blocked him from passing a background check to buy a gun. Mark Kelly's solution is to require background checks for private sales.

This looks just like the VT shooter, and the Aurora shooter, but nobody will talk about caring for the mentally ill.

The sick part of this is that every community has Jared Loughners in it. Ask a local cop or deputy and they can probably rattle off a list of frequent fliers with their department. At some point it became more important to protect their rights than to get them the help they need.

Dear Mr. Kelly,

Your 15 minutes of fame are up. You are becoming quite tiresome.

Now go away.
