US reportedly sends F-22 jets to join South Korea drills
Published March 31, 2013
The United States has reportedly sent F-22 stealth fighter jets to South Korea to join Seoul forces in military drills as North Korea warns the Korean Peninsula has entered "a state of war."
The F-22 Raptors were deployed to Osan Air Base in South Korea from Japan on Sunday to support ongoing U.S.-South Korean military drills, Reuters reports.
North Korea has increased its threatening rhetoric in recent weeks, including vowing to launch a nuclear strike on Washington. In a statement released Sunday, U.S. military in South Korea urged North Korea to restrain itself.
"(North Korea) will achieve nothing by threats or provocations, which will only further isolate North Korea and undermine international efforts to ensure peace and stability in Northeast Asia," the statement said.
Meanwhile, North Korea said Saturday its armed forces, "will blow up U.S. bases for aggression in its mainland and in the Pacific operational theatres including Hawaii and Guam."

I remember going to Osan and feeling like I’d gone to the big city. They had a burger king and everything.
Watch the Norks get kissy and huggy in a few weeks...Watch Skerry go over and rub their collective bottom.
North Korea will collapse like a wet ice cream cone if attacked.
As far as I’m concerned, this is mindless posturing on the part of our brave CIC and his newly-annointed stooge, Chuck Hagel.
I was taught not to point a weapon unless I intended to use it. Our military has been defanged by Obama, and everybody in the world knows he doesn’t have the the will or the balls to use it effectively.
Kerry will take a HUGE goodie basket, too. Here! More oil! More food! If you stop being bad, maybe even some F-16s, too!
Just like they did in 1950?
We should do a touch and go in Pyongyang just for the halibut.
I think it is a little different now. 63 years of communist/socialist rule has collapsed their economy. Their people are starving.
“North Korea will collapse like a wet ice cream cone if attacked.”
And likewise make a big mess in the process.
The outcome would never, ever be in question. But there are a few million folks in both Koreas that would be very inconvenienced in the process.
It really makes me nervous to see Bammy playing chicken with the Norks. I can forsee a situation where Bammy over reacts and get us in very bad situation where everyone of our executive branch politicians (Obama, Biden, Hagel, Kerry) will be in way over their heads and makes a bad decision. God help us.
Does North Korea even have a modern air force or are they still flying old Russian MIGS?
They have old MIGs (-17s) and newer ones as well, up to and including Fulcrums (MIG-29s).
We’re I chief cook and bottle washer over there right now I think I would put those high speed low drag zoomies down at Taegu .... On cockpit alert.
But that would mean I take fat boy Kim seriously..... :o)
At this point I don't think we can afford not to. I don't think this one understands the game of bluster and puffery in quite the same way his daddy and grand daddy did, and you still had folks killed in the south under their regimes.
They still are a client state of China. China will not take kindly to the usurper messing around in their back yard. Quantity still has a quality of its own.
Ya know, come the right circumstances China may choose to let NK go a step too far, creating a sinkhole for the USA there while China springs another “none of your business” attack elsewhere.
Some megalomaniacs realize flunkies make great disposable distraction targets in a pinch.
China does not want US troops on its border.
The PRC will prevent that at all costs.
North Korea’s people are starving, so a couple weeks more sword rattling, we wil go over and promise them 856 gazallion of foreign aid, including food. Then they will love us,
This Kenyan Chappie presently recumbent in the WH is dying to become our first gay wartime President. Think of the photo ops. As with everything else the administration does, this war fever is a "Wag the Dog" distraction.
One of the problems with nuts, they just might try to do what they say they will.
Osan has a Chili’s now.
Are theses the same F-22’s that Obama ended the program for?
Boy I sure hope we don’t run out...
I wonder if this NORK stuff has been orchestrated to see if we would deploy the F 22 and B2 and give the ChiComs an up close and personal look at the platforms in operation.
As I recall GW swore that the NorKs would not be allowed to get Nukes, and gave them billions to make sure they didnt go Nuke.
We don't have a MacArthur any more.
F-22s, eh? How many of those units have we bought, anyway? 6-7?
