As sheriffs across the nation signal opposition to enforcing additional federal gun regulations, the Utah Sheriffs' Association sent a letter to President Obama assuring him that its members similarly will not comply. The letters insists that the rights of Utah citizens trump any new gun control measure that Congress might pass, and sheriffs in Utah are prepared to trade their lives in defense of their constituents' right to keep and bear arms.

As to Salt Lake City is, to paraphrase something by Han Solo, You will never find a more wreched hive of Scum and Villainy.
(At least in comparison to the rest of the state.) But I’d live there, than compared with say Chigago or LA.
But Salt Lake proper is non-Conservative, non-Mormon, liberal blue, pro-gay, etc. etc. You have to get outside of it to find real normalcy.
One nice thing about SLC is the fact that the liberals there are busy fighting the Mormon church and slightly less focused on making it a liberal craphole.
The gay community is constantly engaged in trying to upset the LDS church which I find comical. I just chuckle at every little story of another gay couple getting kicked off of Church owned property.

Nothing, If liberals want to disarm themselves & their supporters I can’t see how it is advantageous to us to stand in the way. The thing to do is to take advantage of our advantage when the time comes.
Then they need to see what the Dems are trying to pass (and if Governor signs it, is law) in Colorado.
Basically, the Secret Service would usurp Sheriff authority and make arrests when the Sheriffs refuse to.
Usurp Sheriff's authority at their own peril. The citizens will have the Sheriff's backs and it raises the question of how many SS agents would be willing to take the certainly lethal risk?

The federal courts have ruled that sheriffs are sovereign political offices. If the SS tries any fascist crap, they can be arrested for violating legal county ordinances and state laws. Then again, the criminal fascist syndicate occupying Washington obeys no law, and we should similarly refuse to obey their illegal fascist dictates.

Sheriffs can deputize and there would a lot of volunteers for just that.
