GOP licking chops at gov’s poll slide (NY's Cuomo nosedives)
NY POST ^ | 4/1/13 | ERIK KRISS, NYP Bureau Chief with S.A. Miller

Posted on 04/01/2013 7:43:38 AM PDT by Liz

NY Gov Andy Cuomo’s once stratospheric approval ratings have hit a slide — the gun-control law Cuomo pushed through the Legislature in January following the Newtown massacre helped drive the Democrat’s job approval ratings from 74 percent last December to 55 percent last month in Quinnipiac polls......he was losing in the New York suburbs and upstate to GOP Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey in a hypothetical presidential run.

The GOP believes Cuomo's politically exploitable missteps, include:

* Delaying on the natural-gas drilling technique known as fracking, which has divided the state.

* Obtaining luxury seats for himself and top aides at the Buffalo Bills’ stadium in a deal to keep the state’s only NFL team from leaving.

* Cutting aid for the developmentally disabled and planning an election-year tax rebate for families while other taxes and fees increase.

Licking chops at WHAT? The opportunity to lose by only 20% when Cuomo comes up for re-election in 2016?

Cuomo could eat squealing puppies during a live, primetime news conference and he’d still win going away.

Please, Repubs... concern yourselves with winnable races.

Or maybe they’ll give us Hillary Clinton vs. Jeb Bush. These are the times that try men’s souls.

Dick Lugar and Bob Dole are still available. If we're going RINO... let's go uber-RINO!

The Republicans will wait until next election and then try to fight, and as usual it will be too late. ALL Republicans who want a chance to win next year need to be running negative ads on Democrats starting now. Every pro tax vote, every anti firearms vote, every anti-senior vote, needs to be put on TV to try to reach the low information voters. Politics is 24/7/365, and the Republicans only start fighting near election time. I don’t see anything that they should be optimistic about.

Oh where or where has Gillibrand been on the SAFE gun act? She was such a gun advocate when she campaigned; she must be waiting for Schumer to give her some talking points.

The only thing Cuomo cares about are the social issues like same-sex “marriage,” taking away 2nd amendment rights, murderming more unborn children.

How many NY voters were fooled into thinking he was a fiscal conservative?

More to the point, how many New Yorkers actually give a damn any more? Very damned few

“Even if his “poll numbers” go down to 20, they will still vote for him.”

Yup. The only “Republikan” these NY retards love are the liberal GOP-E ones. Same here in CA when the state voted for Ahnold. They’ll still vote Dumocrap.

But yet, so many NYers have left the state that NY lost two House seats (so far). Hope the ones who voted foolishly in NY vote more intelligently in their new home state.

btw, there will be a Candlelight Vigil for Life on April 15, 5 p.m. at West Capitol Park (outside the State Capitol Building) in Albany, NY.

More info. for anyone who can attend, and wants to STAND UP AND BE COUNTED:

“The only ‘Republikan’ these NY retards love are the liberal GOP-E ones.”

Question: Why did the U.S. spare no effort in fighting
NAZIS yet always go weak-kneed when it came to fighting Communists?

Just wondering.

IMHO

FDR was a socialist at heart, more attuned to the commie perspective. His leadership led much of what had been very conservative democrats into becoming ‘weakneed’ socialist. Now, after generations of newly trained by ‘weakneed’ parents, democrat voters are socialist at heart and cannot see that reality in themselves. The Bible says to raise up a child int he way that they should go, and when they are old they will not depart from it. Sadly, socialist fools for Roosevelt have turned out socialist activists who ignore God, effectively verifying that which they would eshew.

Cuomo’s NYS release a “come to NYS” commercial to attract business on CNBC.

they touted the low state income tax. Are they on drugs? How about just ELIMINATING ANY state income tax.

It was so full of lies directed at misleading business as to need a laugh track.

It is a bigger joke than the AP stylebook.

Heh----yeah. Plus I got a huge laugh out of the blurb that Cuomo's got a $22m war chest. Where did this rank opportunist get all that money? Read on.

REFERENCE Cuomo's Social Engineering as HUD Chief Contributed to Subprime Crisis / originally published on Examiner.com

---SNIP---In 1993 President Bill Clinton appointed Andrew Cuomo to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as Assistant Secretary. In 1997 Cuomo took over as HUD chief replacing Clinton appointee Henry Cisneros. During Cisneros tenure he championed Clinton's goal of social engineering within the housing market forcing lenders to issue loans to those that would not financially qualify for the lending.

Cisneros left office in a scandal involving lying to the FBI over payouts to a mistress, Cisneros subsequently pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor and though never sent to prison received a pardon from Bill Clinton in 2001.

Andrew Cuomo took the HUD reins and not only furthered Cisneros and Clinton's policies but greatly expanded them.

Henry Cisneros moved the GSEs toward a requirement that 42 percent of their mortgages serve low and moderate income families. Andrew Cuomo raised that number to 50 percent and dramatically hiked GSE mandates to buy mortgages for the "very-low-income."

These bad loans were purchased and sold throughout the secondary market and the pyramid grew and the bottom collapsed resulting in the subprime crisis we are still reeling from today.

In 2008, the Village Voice published a compelling report detailing Andrew Cuomo's policy decisions "that gave birth to the country's current crisis."

The report touched on how Cuomo's 187-page rules "opened the door to abuse." The rules explicitly rejected the idea of imposing any new reporting requirements on the GSEs. In other words, HUD wanted Fannie and Freddie to buy risky loans, but the department didn't want to hear just how risky they were.

Many New York voters have been distracted by the gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino's racist joke email forwards, what some are failing to see is the actual harm to the minority community directly caused by Cuomo's policies...and that is no laughing matter.

Cuomo's top aide said, "We believe that there are a lot of loans to black Americans that could be safely purchased by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac if these companies were more flexible." Andrew Cuomo doubled down and had this to say about his HUD standards, "GSE presence in the subprime market could be of significant benefit to lower-income families, minorities, and families living in underserved areas."

How's that working out for the minority community, where foreclosures and unemployment rates have hit the hardest as a result of such failed policies and blatant social engineering?

The last time a Republican was elected governor of New York was 2002 ( George Pataki )....................Before that we had Thomas E. Dewey and Nelson Rockefeller, but they too were Liberal Republicans. Ya can’t win as a Conservative in NY, the MSM will brand you as a kook, and the MSM controls the minds of the NYC Voters which make up the majority of the vote casters.
