As lawmakers prepare to vote on gun control, Newtown families are making a last ditch effort to prevent another mass shooting.
During a news conference Monday, the families of Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims were at the State Capitol where they said they want to see a ban on large ammunition magazines.
They said not only on future sales of large ammunition magazines, but those already in existence.
Eyewitness News has learned that an agreement was reached over the weekend between the two political parties.
And on Monday, the leadership of both parties briefed their caucuses.
On Dec. 14, Adam Lanza, 20, shot and killed his mother while she slept in her bed before going to Sandy Hook Elementary School, where he killed 20 children and six adults. He then killed himself as police entered the school.
While discussions occur among lawmakers, the Newtown families continued to hope to influence the political leaders.
Lawmakers are currently discussing banning large ammunition magazines from 30 rounds to 10.
Newtown families told Eyewitness News they are supportive, but feel a ban should go even further.
And that large magazines should all be illegal and should not be grandfathered.
Nicole Hockley said she believes her 6-year-old son, Dylan, and maybe another child could have escaped if the gunman Lanza had to stop and reload more often.

People in grief will grasp at the most illogical thoughts. It does not give them the right to abridge other peoples’ rights, however.

Yet, of all the laws proposed, would ANY OF THEM actually have prevented the killings from happening?
If the proposed laws would not have prevented the killings, then what is the purpose of these new proposed laws other than to obtain CONTROL over the public.

That’s the question I ask each and every time I write to one of these yahoos. Show me ONE bill that would prevent *gun violence*...that’s usually the point where they stop returning my emails/ calls. Meh.

Someone should tell Nicole Hockley that her 6 year old son Dylan would be alive if the teacher or principles had something more than their bodies to throw at the gunman.
You can’t make a law to disarm a lawless man, you can only uses anther gun to put them down before they do more harm.
Message to the grieving Newtowner’s: It wasn’t the second amendment that killed your children. All those broad leftist butts bent over in front of you laying out the carpet on the gun control rallying stage for you are only using your grief to further their agenda. Your loss doesn’t mean squat to them. Only the politics of the crisis for them to use to their advantage is of value to them. Their goal is more dangerous to many more than you lost in Newtown.
THEY ARE USING YOU. DON’T LET THEM USE YOU, AND YOUR DECEASED LOVED ONE FOR THEIR ANTI AMERICAN GOALS.
We need to give them logical thoughts to grasp upon instead. Rational Solid truths such as the fact that had there been an armed guard in the school her son would still be alive.
But had there been a law against gun ownership the madman would still have obtained a gun and killed him.
Do scissors count?
The left claims only eeeeeevil republicans or conservatives use people to further their political goals. When I hear similar statements, it just means they are projecting.
The implication was a weapon of at least comparable range & stopping power.
But yes Scissors count provided that you can covertly close the distant and slit his throat before shoots you dead.
Realistically a simple shotgun, rifle or hand gun in the hands of a few different school officials might have been far more effective.

The left are a bunch of lying low lifes, Nobody parades and exploits victims like they do. They play this book so much sometimes they don’t even bother to uses real victims.
This is but one of many facts we should not fail to remind folks of when we speak of charging the left with their abusive political practices.
