WASHINGTON The White House says that despite bellicose rhetoric from North Korea the Obama administration has not seen changes in the regime's military posture.

White House press secretary Jay Carney said Mondays the U.S. has not detected any military mobilization or repositioning of forces from Pyongyang to back up the threats from North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

This is almost certainly just more bluster from the North. It’s how they do internal politics. This time next year when the US/South Korea military exercises kick off they’ll throw another temper tantrum. There is a good chance North Korea could barely even afford to fully mobilize their military in a way that would put them on a real “war footing”.

Ya’ don’t say...

The real threat was against SK and the US Troops stationed there. Did recent mobilization quell the saber rattling?

I am curious about the flight status of the F-22, not long ago I read they were grounded due to an oxygen sys problem causing pilots to faint. Can any enlightened FReeper update me on this?

In years past, I would have agreed with you 100%. However, unlike Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, I'm not sure if the little turdstain quite understands the rules of the game. He might, but at this point, he's too much of an unknown quantity to say with any certainty, IMHO.

Hope you're right.

The fact that the North Koreans have kept open the Kaesong Industrial Region is pretty telling. If they were about to start a war, one would think they'd put a stop to hundreds of South Korean workers/managers streaming into the North every day. Additionally, from everything I've read the North hasn't actually moved forces or done anything provocative at all - other than lots of bluster.

If the new kid is going to miscalculate, I'd expect it to be a few months after the US/South Korean exercises are over. But you are right, nothing is absolutely certain at this point.

You willing to bet your life on that?

I’m not.

Tell the Soviets and the Chinese,

“Not another nickel for NK. You feed them and shut them up, and if they launch, they better take out DC and all of our strategic forces, because we are going to wipe them out.

This is an opportunity for you. If you get them to launch, we’ll wipe them off the map for you and you can colonize the place in 10,000 years.

So, NK can starve quietly, or they can die violently, unless of course you want to save your neighbor, since they are in your neighborhood.

As for SK, hopefully they pay a one-time price to get rid of an existential threat that’s been hanging over their head since you Chinese created it in the 50’s.”

They all hate each other anyway. Korea hates Japan, Japan has always hated Korea and China, and China hates Japan.

I trust nothing that comes from Kim Jong Un. Unfortunately, absolutely nothing coming from our own failed government is trust worthy and it continues to offer a clear and present danger to all of America.

My heart aches for the millions of innocents in NK.

60 years of rigid totalitarianism has robbed them of their humanity. But, I refuse to believe they deserve to suffer.

Dear Insane Morons Running The US,

If North Korea has not switched to a war footing, why are you provoking them ?

DC is starting to make the North Korean Fat Kid look sane.
