BREMERTON, Wash. — A “large scale” criminal organization targeting gun owners’ homes for robberies and then reselling the guns to methamphetamine dealers was recently uncovered in Kitsap County, Bremerton police reported Monday.

According to Bremerton police, five suspects were arrested after a single residential burglary uncovered a complex crime ring where the suspects used “inside” information to target gun-owning victims.

Joseph Peck, 29, of Bremerton, is being charged in federal court, and four other West Sound men being held in state custody have not been officially charged. Three additional arrests from unrelated crimes were made during the investigation that started in October 2012 when police became aware of the criminal organization.

Cops also fear they are targets of gun thieves.

“Although no one is keeping statistics on the thefts”

Doesn’t fit the narrative I suppose...

“a complex crime ring where the suspects used “inside” information to target gun-owning victims.”

Would have been easier for the crooks if the local paper had just published the names of the gun owners for them.

“They say officers and other gun owners shouldn’t advertise where they live.”

And newspapers-Hartford Courant IIRC-should not be advertising locations of CCW holders for that very reason.

Law Enforcement had better have some serious discussions

with the politicians/gun grabbers because very soon, Law

Enforcement is going to need the good, law abiding gun

owners to stand with them.

Comment:

“This is why gun owners really REALLY distrust the press when the press tries to publish lists of gun owners: its the same thing, a shopping list for thieves.

Also, if you are going to call legal rifles in civilian hands “Assault Weapons” when they don’t meet the state’s definition of assault weapon (its why civilians can buy them), shouldn’t the Chronicle call a police Assault Weapon an Assault Weapon?

Or does it magically downgrade to “Semiautomatic rifle” when its stolen from a cop?”

This!!!!!

I stand with the Sheriff’s first. I’m excited to see them

start deputizing a lot of folks.

The local police will have to prove themselves before I

stand with them.

I was making a statement that all Law

Enforcement had better wake up and support us, the law

abiding gun owners. They’d better see us as an ally and toe

the line accordingly.

What does “insider information” even mean?? It would have to be some kind of government list of gun owners.

I am not standing with either. While I think, maybe, perhaps, my county sheriff and local police are on my side, I really have to wonder about the consequences in defending my life, family and property. Not that I would change how I would defend, but I think about the clean up afterwards and any knowledge that the sheriff or township police would have about an incident.

Sign on Gun Safe:
The Governor has made it illegal for you to posses my weapons without a background check.
Further, several of the associated magazines have capacities which exceed the new legal limits.

It’s only fair that you have this information, as your photographs have already been transmitted offsite, and since you’ve tripped the silent alarm, a copy is already on display at the Sheriff’s office down the street.

Pray that they get there before I do.

I'm actually ok with the local yokels. And the Sheriff.

Trying to break into a home around here is very dangerous, though. So mostly, the bad guys have moved away. Some can be reached at State addresses.

When I got back from the last deployment (after being gone from home ground for 22 years) it was sorta ugly around here.

Now, kids ride their bikes up and down the street again.

Having understanding local police is an important part of that effort. ;)

Let’s assume the inside information was from within the gun supplier chain. First of all, were all the guns *or ammo* purchased from the same store? That would indicate a rotten store employee.

“Retail dealers must record and report all retail pistol sales to local police/sheriff and to state department of licensing in Washington state.”

If the sales are from different stores, this is next up the chain. So the investigation would try to determine if any single person had this information “cross his desk”.

Aren’t the meatheads on the left accessories to these crimes? Obama should be sued as well as the suspect.
