The United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday signed off on a sweeping, first-of-its-kind treaty to regulate the international arms trade, brushing aside worries from U.S. gun rights advocates that the pact could lead to a national firearms registry and disrupt the American gun market.
The long-debated U.N. Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) requires countries to regulate and control the export of weaponry such as battle tanks, combat vehicles and aircraft and attack helicopters, as well as parts and ammunition for such weapons. It also provides that signatories will not violate arms embargoes, international treaties regarding illicit trafficking, or sell weaponry to a countries for genocide, crimes against humanity or other war crimes.
With the Obama administration supporting the final treaty draft, the General Assembly vote was 154 to 3, with 23 abstentions.

Not in my house! NO, NO, NO!
Here it comes. The President will sign it and expect the Senate to do the same in kind. He will shame them and blame them for violence around the world if they don’t.
It will never affect my gun ownership in any way. They can stick their own guns up their asses and pull the triggers for all I care.
I look forward to Blue Helmet target shooting with 30’06 black tips.
Satan moves for World Control.
Just had my CMP Garand delivered Monday. I’ll join ya!
165 grain .300 Win Mags. He he.
Don’t worry: there are a lot of Democrats in the Senate in tough re-election campaigns. It’ll never pass the Senate. :)
-What they said about Obamacare in March 2010....
“It will never affect my gun ownership in any way. “
As long as you don’t plan on getting a new one, that is probably true, but you may not be able to get the ammo you want.
Bye-bye, surplus ammo.
C’n I come too? I have some ordnance.
Somebody should tell the NINC (narcissist in chief) that no treaty supersedes the Constitution, and if he tries to enforce an unconstitutional treaty, it would be legal grounds for “replacing an oppressive government.”
Although, I do believe that he overstepped that boundary a long time ago.
Sounds like a plan!
If the Senate ratifies the U.N. arms control treaty, we will have lots of RINOs to blame along with Democrats. I seem to recall that some of the former as well as some of the latter are up for reelection next year.
Now I can see it happening to me. But not without a fight.
Presumably the US voted FOR it too, instead of vetoing it.
You can thank Obama. He is going to get your guns one way or another.
“The U.S., however, indicated last week that it would vote for the treaty despite opposition from the pro-gun group, Reuters reported.
The National Rifle Association has portrayed the draft treaty as a threat to gun ownership rights enshrined in the U.S. Constitution and has lobbied to defeat the proposal at the U.N. The NRA last week praised the Senate’s passage of an amendment to the Democratic budget proposal that would prevent the U.S. from entering into the treaty.”
UN adopts pact to regulate multibillion-dollar global arms trade
count me in. always wondered what these odd looking blue tips will do.
How long did it take to get the M1?
“-What they said about Obamacare in March 2010....”
How right you are - sad, but true.
Yep 200 gr. Hornady FTX in 348 Winchester.
You and me both, bro. I’ve been saving mine for that ‘rainy day’. Looks like it’s going to be a hard rain indeed.
History has an important lesson to teach in that regard: better to die like a free man with a pile a spent cartridge cases at your feet than like an animal in one of those slaughterhouses.
We live with a government subject to our Constitution & our Bill of Rights, not nutty measures set by the U.N.
Write, email or call your US Senators and tell them to vote against any foreign treaty or proposed law that diminishes our Second Amendment or other rights.
Go ahead, pull that trigger, punk!
[UN has no say.] Fate = Kyoto Protocol
LMAO! great commercial
Oooh! We’re getting quite a little group going on here. I’ll have to bring my Mosey after all, and not just the Mare’s Leg, 12 Ga, and 1911s.
They’ll soften up the opposition with drone fired hellfire missiles, first.
Well, it is pretty clear. The war is here. NOW- how many Americans are going to stay asleep?
Obamacare is not a treaty, you can’t EO a treaty, can’t ram through a treaty without creating a lot of bodies
Veto power can only be exercised in the Security Council, not the General Assembly which is a just who has the most votes for what.
Reid will hold the vote a 2:AM when there are only five democRats present.
United Nations General Assembly just gave the Mexican cartels a new line of work to go into.
You can look forward to shooting local cops with black tips because if there is any enforcement and confiscation coming out of this they'll be the ones doing it.
True...but a difference is that the senate majority leader is not fully on board this time. Gun ownership has gone up dramatically among women lately (dem constituency) and also is up about 10 percent among DEMOCRAT men.
Sure they’ll try but this will be harder than obamacare for them and they will never get the House on board.
Most of the people who voted for and supported Obamacare were re-elected.
It’s entirely up to them. I have no quarrel with them and support law enforcement, as I currently have family members who are retired LEOS’s and active duty LEO’s, but if they choose to obey an illegal order the Nuremberg, “I was just following orders and doing my job” line won’t cut it.
They are messing with a “civil right” after all.
Again, it is entirely up to them.
The Senate is also working to cut the budget and lower taxes. :)
“two thirds of the Senators present concur.”
So how many Senators does it take if three are present? Or fifty?
It only takes 34 Senators out of a minimum quorum.
Feeling so confident now?
Time to go “Cartel”...
A ‘MUST READ”:
In addition to treaties, which may not enter into force and become binding on the United States without the advice and consent of the Senate, there are other types of international agreements concluded by the executive branch and not submitted to the Senate. These are classified in the United States as executive agreements, not as treaties, a distinction that has only domestic significance. International law regards each mode of international agreement as binding, whatever its designation under domestic law. “
It won’t be blue helmets. It will be BATF or DHS.
There aren’t any cops in my town that will be doing that.
