A Response to the American Association of Pediatrics’ Role in Getting Americans to Impulse-Purchase Same-Sex Marriage

By Jeff Myers, Ph.D.

“Ya got trouble, my friend, right here, I say, trouble right here in RiverCity…

Mass-staria! Friends, the idle brain is the devil’s playground!”

“Professor” Harold Hill, The Music Man

Anatomy of a Hustle

Meredith Wilson’s The Music Man tells the story of the classic American hustle: “Professor” Harold Hill pulls one over on the citizens of RiverCity using a tried and true method employed by sham salesmen, sham evangelists, and sham politicians alike:

Play on people’s guilt feelings.

Publicly win the heart of the most credible but resistant person.

Play the victim so people will feel protective and make your case for you.

Launch the whole campaign on a national holiday, when everyone is in the mood.

Excellent article on the recent deception by the American Association of Pediatrics in support of counterfeit "marriage." The good Doctor exposes the fallacies and deceits quite well.

“Man/woman marriage is the only kind of marriage that has been demonstrated to have a stabilizing influence on society. To say that marriage as we want to define it is a stabilizing influence is to commit a category error of major proportions. It’s like saying ‘We know oranges are healthy to eat, therefore we are going to call the foods we like ‘oranges.’’

“So, does the AAP statement prove that gay marriage ‘helps children’ as the New York Times headline claims? No, it does not.”

This is really getting old now. You all were more than happy to have fedgov sanction and subsidize your marriages and families at the expense of un-married tax payers. Now you carp and bitch when fedgov attaches strings to it. There are plenty of examples even in the movies of why it’s a bad idea to let the mafia don do favors for you. Same goes with uncle fedgov. If your vaunted institution meant that much to you, you should have kept the government out of it and not taken the graft. You lay down with dogs, you have no right to bitch about waking up with fleas. This is one lesson you’re going to have to learn the hard way. But most of you are still going to miss the point.

As it turns out was just watching the BlueRay of the Music Man last night that was produced by the local high school. And yeah, the scam never gets old.

We are being fed endless puffed up media reports about how views are changing, the shift is inevitable, etc., as well as fraudulent polls designed to reinforce the propaganda campaign. The Big Lie is alive and well.

And you not only miss the point, but the entire argument.

Government DOES NOT "grant" that which is marriage. It RECOGNIZES marriage for what it is, what it has always been. And it MUST recognize it because of all the social externalities which result from this union.

There is very little, if anything, that government does to manage marriage. People can get married any way they want, with any kind of ceremony, or none at all, and conduct the entire length of their marriage as they see fit, without ANY involvement of government.

That a man and a woman are deemed to "become one flesh" when they wed is simply common tradition and religious conviction, if not an actual reality in many aspects. That they are TREATED as one flesh, by government or any outside party, shouldn't surprise anyone. This "one-flesh" way in which they are treated is expressed in the societal and governmental policies toward marriage, joint-filing of income tax (as one entity,) the right against testifying against your spouse in court (the 5th Amendment, testifying against YOURSELF), etc.

A principled guy like you who’s going to turn down his Social Security has every right to complain.

And then people started demanding government money and privileges to go with that recognition. Never mind that Article 1, Section 8 of the document that 21st century conservatives pretend to have reverence for doesn't grant that power to the feds. You wanted big brother's blessing...you got it. It's time to pay the check. Stop complaining now that he's going to do the same favors for the Island of Misfit Toys.

Well, that's another issue entirely, isn't it?

Isn't it?

No, more like I know that Ponzi scheme is going to fall apart long before I get close to 67. I'd be happy just to stop having my pocket picked.

And just what role did that fever swamp on the Potomac have in marriage before it started doing married people all those favors?

A male attempting to mate with the anal canal of another male is insane. A female attempting to mate with another female using a rubber appliance is insane. It’s like having Aunt Rosie come to dinner and she tries to shovel mashed potatoes in her ears while telling you it’s her lifestyle. It may be, but it’s still insane behavior.
