Gov. Malloy to sign Connecticut gun control law once passed, gun manufacturers consider leaving

HARTFORD — Gov. Dannel P. Malloy will quickly sign the sweeping gun control law that is expected to be adopted Wednesday, while a firearm lobbyist predicted it will be challenged in court and gun manufacturers continue to weigh their options to move away.

The owner of Stag Arms, Mark Malkowski, said he has had numerous, lucrative offers to relocate to gun-friendly states that he is more seriously considering, particularly if his brand is hurt by passage of the law.

The same analysis was repeated by Jonathan Scalise, president and owner of Ammunition Storage Components.

Both sides on the gun debate are expected to be back at the Capitol for the vote, to again make themselves visible with the National Shooting Sports Foundation arranging bus shuttles from Cabela’s in East Hartford and advising them to tell their legislators how they will vote when they are up for re-election.

“This is a good moment,” Malloy said of the sweeping gun control legislation that bans at least an additional 100 assault weapons, mandates universal background checks, bans magazines with more than 10 rounds and restricts use of currently owned larger magazines.

It requires eligibility certificates for long guns, raises the purchase age for centerfold rifles from 18 to 21 and puts in place the first statewide dangerous offender list, among other things.

The governor, who had been critical of the amount of time it was taking lawmakers to adopt new rules and argued forcefully for a ban on possession of large magazines - which he failed to get - had nothing but praise Tuesday for the leaders who put the deal together.

“It’s something to be proud of,” Malloy said. He called it “far reaching (and) arguably the most comprehensive in the country.”

Connecticut was already highly rated by the Brady folks for their “sensible” gun control laws.

“Put a fork in CT...”

Not that Dems could care, but the country is turning BINARY with respect to gun rights. So you have states that protect those rights (like here in TX), and you have the other states, like NY and CT that take guns.

So...what happens in regard to migration? If one lives in a gun state and has guns (which is almost a given), there is practically NO WAY that person will move to gun-taking state, as that would mean having to give up one’s weapons, prior to moving. On the other hand, if one lives in a gun-taking state, it is VERY LIKELY that they would move to a gun-rights state, even if they don’t have a gun, as they know FULL WELL that they have the OPTION to not have guns in a gun-rights state.

In the long-term, this will hurt the gun-taking states, and badly...but, again, to the gun-grabbers, it doesn’t matter.

One more step by democrat liberals to demolish the US Constitution....the people will miss it when it is gone because their rights will go with it. Shame on democrat progressive communists.

Then he ought to have the guts to tell us what the results of this legisltion will be say over the next 5 years. We should expect an immediate and sustained reduction in violent crimes, no?

The danger with that migration is they bring their mild views of statism with them. Gun grabbing states didn’t start out that way. Drop by drop people began to accept nannyism and a spiral of infantilization began.

Gun control isn’t a leading indicator of a state’s radicalism. It’s a lagging indicator. The corruption began decades ago and this is the manifestation of it.

So, those same people who sat by and watched government grow will now move to states where those same attitudes will eventually be the majority. The key is breaking the government monopoly on education. By that I don’t mean vouchers or government school choice, but government deciding on the curriculum. Even homeschoolers follow a government curriculum for the most part.

“raises the purchase age for centerfold rifles from 18 to 21”

We can’t have those “centerfold” rifles around corrupting our utes! Just looking at one with a couple of 54 DD “clips” is “disgraceful.” Then there’s their “magizines” with which to contend. Trust the RATs “to do the right thing” to protect “the children.”

If only it doesn’t hurt the gun rights protecting states by those moving, bringing other liberal garbage with them. Quite a few ‘rats support the leftist agenda except when it comes to the 2A (just see the DUmp). But they will move to a red state, either because of taxes or unconstitutional gun laws, and seem to be too utterly stupid to understand that when they vote for leftists on other grounds, it winds up being a package deal. So they ruin everything for everyone in their new formerly conservative state.

Was reading people have to turn in large capacity mags by next year and talk of a registry? What a joke. Following in New York’s footsteps to turn in mags and scary guns in Jan-April next year, another state where public displays of armed non-compliance will be coming. Colorado day of civil disobedience set for July 2nd. http://westernrifleshooters.wordpress.com/2013/03/22/colorado-mass-civil-disobedience-day-2-july-2013/

Gun companies consider leaving CT? How about every citizen who does not want living under a dictatorship in the making get the heck out?

This proposed law is the sort of government oppression that caused people in CT and its neighboring areas take up arms in 1776. How hard does government step on our necks before we say NO!
