The murders of two prosecutors in Kaufman County, Texas, apparently has prompted a federal prosecutor to withdraw from a major racketeering case in Houston, the latest sign that attacks on lawmen are having a chilling effect on the judicial system.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jay Hileman sent defense attorneys an email Tuesday saying he was withdrawing from the case against the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas due to safety concerns.
I understand why someone would want to step back, and it makes sense to me, especially people who have families, defense attorney Richard Ely, who is representing one of the defendants in the case, said. Jay is a friend of mine, and this was a personal decision.
The Aryan Brotherhood case, which netted 34 indictments last November, was followed by a statewide warning that the white supremacist prison gang may be planning retaliation. Ely doesnt know the origins of the threat, but he thinks it was probably someone just spouting off.
The Kaufman County District Attorney's Office was named in the threat because it joined several other agencies on a task force aimed at cracking down on white supremacist groups. Since then, District Attorney Mike McLelland and Deputy DA Mark Hasse have been murdered in brazen attacks.

The lunatics have won. The good guys have surrendered.
Wow.
Years ago I was chatting with a law student who was interning at the LACoDA, and planned to continue there doing street gang prosecutions.
I asked him why the bangers didn’t simply target DAs.
His answer was “Because we are like shark’s teeth.”
By which he meant that anyone who was lost would be immediately replaced.
I wonder how much longer that will be true.

were the federal prosecutors ever in the contest?
remember they work for holder.
5 out of 7 people probably believe holder is a boldfaced liar.
Not all DAs are good guys.
This is beginning to feel like Elliot Ness Times - was the Mafia as bad as what these Mexican drug cartels or just more of the same?
After Benghazi does anyone think any part of this Administration would have their back?
Don’t worry, if going after actual criminals is too scary I’m sure the Feds will find a group of harmless cranks to bring in for a big ol’ show trial. Can’t have the proles losing the fear of Big Brother.
See how easy it would be.
Lets roll

PFL
All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men run away with their tails between their legs like a bunch of friggin' pansies.
Good old Feds. Prosecuting Border Patrol agents who try to do their jobs under extremely difficult circumstances. Prosecuting gun shop owners who are the victims of unethical stings. Prosecuting land owners who only want to protect their lands. Something has changed hasn’t it?
No offense, but this is too easy. This is served up all nice and neat for Obama and pushing gun bans on us all.
Not buying it. I believe it happened, but I don’t believe this isn’t somebody’s covert op.
Those panzy azzes just Want to go after joe bag o donut not wearing his seatbelt. Criminals are too scary! Joe bag o Donuts, he will juat meekly pay his extortion money and move on with life.
Big bad officialdom squels like little girls at the first sign of real resistance. While I don’t condone in any way the idiots in the white Seperatist movement it is intresting to watch these politicians buckle. Let’s face it we pay thpese idiots to go after violent criminals but they use their massive resources to levy unofficial taxes on us in the form of petty fines for everything. What a bunch of skirts!
