The Inheritance tax is an immoral tax to begin with. Why is the government entitled to half of your wealth when you die, it’s theft, plain and simple. Argue from that point but not this maze called gay marriage.

My point was concerning the destruction of any real meaning to marriage. When marriage is no longer a defined, exclusive bond, it is meaningless to base law on it.
What is the penalty for living like you are married, while not having a license? There is none. So why get a license?
Marriage would still exist as a religious practice but not a government one. There would no longer be a financial or legal benefit to marriage.
Gay marriage came with gay divorce which has been a huge problem. Divorce is a big hassle.
Homosexuals should be charged an additional tax because of the added burden to the health care system. They will have to be taken care of when the contract aids/hiv.

Society has a vested interest in promoting traditional marriage, and that’s why it was promoted in the realm of the legal system.

but you’d have to argue that government then has no business in promoting a healthy and stable society.

When the daughter is about to retire she can also would be free to marry her own daughter, because her mother has passed long ago.
However, since mother/daughter were married for 10 years before she died, that daughter is free to start collecting 50% of her mothers SS.

I don’t think society realizes that traditional marriage is good for society. I think society is too wrapped up in pleasure seeking.

When they first started talking about same-sex marriage, this is one of the first things I thought of. What a great way to avoid some taxes!
Of course, once everyone is married to someone, they would pull the marriage tax advantage.

There are also lots of single elderly sisters living together to pool economic resources. Why not let them “marry” as well?
If they decide "marriage" can be same sex maybe we should bring lawsuits to get marriage out of government. Marriage is a religous tradition and according to the ACLU religous traditions have no place in government. Government can call their thing something else. Unions or whatever.
Gay advocates are always arguing gay marriage for equal financial, vistitation, insurance etc. rights. Additionally they want social acceptance of their lifestyle by calling it marriage. I refuse to equate what God determined to be marriage to what the State determines it to be.
