(CNSNews.com) - As part of a settlement with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Collins Inc. of Clinton, Iowa has agreed to a re-lamping of its facility with low-mercury fixtures at a projected cost of $76,952.
The re-lamping will be a greater expense than the civil penalty to be paid.
A re-lamping project involving the replacement of high-mercury fluorescent fixtures and bulbs with low-mercury fluorescent fixtures and bulbs at its facility with a projected eligible cost of $76,952.00, The EPA settlement says.
The re-lamping will cost more than the $31,379 administrative civil penalty paid by Collins Inc., a manufacturer of metal racks and shelving brackets for refrigerators.
The EPA filed a complaint against Collins, Inc. after an inspection found the company was storing hazardous waste without a permit and failed to manage used oil in accordance with regulations.
According to the settlement agreement, a major part of the project will entail replacing Current 8-foot, 2 lamp T8 fixtures, utilize Osram Sylvania T8, Octron®, HO, Linear, High Output lamps which have a mercury content of 9.5 mg per lamp.
These fixtures will be retrofitted with 4-foot, 4 lamp T8 fixtures with low mercury lamps. The selected lamp, a Philips F032T8/ADV850/ALTO, contains only 1.7 mg of mercury per lamp - reportedly the lowest mercury content of any lamp currently marketed.
Also as part of the consent agreement settlement for violations of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Collins Inc. has agreed to a paint waste minimizer project at a projected cost of $14,857.
It is definitely a communist entity and is one of the important agencies that work diligently to destroy America through it's endless laws and regulations to cripple private ownership and property owners. It produces its results by preying on frightened smaller industries.
The States may not have been doing a great job but this belongs at the local level now! It is to be handed back to us.
Should have just walked the EPA inspecter out back and put one in his brain pan. Pay the guy on the loading dock to dump the vehicle in Obamaville.
“It’s for the greater good.” said State Science Institute Chief Administrator Wesley Mouch.
He added, “You kulaks would do well to tremble. We’re from the federal government and we’re here to help.”
Anymore your suggestion is starting to seem reasonable to me.
Mere compliance will result in bankruptcy, economic death and real physical death for large numbers of citizens.
Wonder if the EPA will ever outlaw the high mercury content CFl bulbs that are mandated for private homes. Break one and you home becomes a hazardous waste cleanup site worthy of federal investigation.
Even though your stmts sound extreme theres a good bit of fact in them. Liberals have never been opposed to guns as long as you cant have them. They also see no problem with using force to gain compliance to their edicts. Liberal propaganda to the contrary is for the simpletons.
Since they have to replace every fixture in the facility why don’t they just put in incandescent light bulbs which contain zero mercury?
Well, even though there is a LOT wrong with what he does, I DO like Walter White in “Breaking Bad” and how he looks at things he has to deal with.
There was one scene with he, his pal and some drug dealers out in the desert....they were at a standstill about the deal Walter wanted and the nearly pure meth he could deliver.....Walter finally got perturbed and told this dealer “Who am I” Insisting, “Who AM I”....”WHO AM I?”
The dealer, growning fearful, finally whispered “Heisenberg”.......Walter shot back “You’re God Damn Right!” Walter finally let loose his inner controls and found his own justice..... a powerful scene....
Obama is focused like a laser on job creation.
Now the Obama administration is actually creating jobs.
This time its jobs in Chinese light bulb factories.
Perfect. Now, how to dispose of all those high-mercury lamps.
Hey, it keeps union members working, so it’s all good. Hee
Yet home owners are forced to replace their non-toxic incandescent bulbs with mercury filled CFL bulbs
“Today, they are only looking to punish you, fine you, perhaps jail you for violations.”
Eggs Ackley! And they love to make examples of people and companies. I operate a public water supple company. Small, wells, serves a population of about 1,000. I’ve had to deal with the epa forever. They’re all tree-hugging pricks. I could tell you stories,,,,,......
More environmental harm in replacing the bulbs. It is about control; it is not about the environment.
The trick here is to turn EVERYONE into a criminal that way no one has a right to ever be outside of government control.
See, our masters want us slaves to know who’s in control.
