HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, who four months ago broke the news to shocked parents that their children had been slaughtered in a Connecticut elementary school, signed into law Thursday sweeping new restrictions on weapons and large capacity ammunition magazines similar to the ones used by the man who gunned down 20 child and six educators in the massacre.
Alongside family members of some of the victims of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Malloy signed the bill hours after the General Assembly approved the measure to give the state some of the toughest gun laws in the country.

RIP The Constitution State
They have a plan and truth nor reality have anything to do with it.
He is also proud that:
Between the murders and the signing , several hundred children were aborted.
The next Colt I buy won’t be manufactured in Connecticut. same with Stag Arms.
Incredibly sad. Truly. They buried their historical roots.
You can always count on leftist extremists to vent their hatred of both the Second Amendment and those of us who believe it means exactly what it says.
Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has violated his oath of office and should be removed from that office immediately.
He’ll tell you that they’ll never buy guns and threaten anyone.
Aren’t gun manufacturers fleeing?
some are. some aren’t. I haven’t seen anyone fleeing Connecticut however, only Colorado.
They’ll just tell you that it’s an old document that we’ve outgrown.
How many firearms or firearm-related companies are located in CT?
Marlin closed there Connecticut plant but I think that was a business decision made before this all happened. You know what, it is time to say to these people to “stuff it,” and add, “we will not comply.”
Stump a liberal...ask him to explain exactly how this law would have stopped Newtown.
No ‘assault weapon’....he can use a pistol.
No high capacity magazines?...Lanza had to use at least 10 magazines, and not one 6 year old child jumped him during the switch. In fact, he had free roam of the scholl until...welll...until the police came with their own guns.
Background check? Well, considering Lanza committed murder and aggravated robbery to get his gun, this probably won’t stop him.
Register magazines?!? Seriously. Lanza didn’t own any magazines.
Gun offender registry? Nope, Lanza wouldn’t have been on the list.
Eligibility certificate to buy ammo? Not a problem if you kill your mom to get ammo.
So go ahead, stump a liberal. This law was passed in the name of the dead children at Newtown. So, exactly which one of these laws would have prevented it?
BTW, I have a secret. I know how to prevent the next Newtown. Get an over-weight retired cop. Put a pitol belt, holster, and pistol on him, and sit him by the door.
Well, CT is now one of those Eastern States through which I will not drive, visit nor spend a cent. Suggest a total boycott of those idiots.
anything in the bill like , if you use a firearm in a crime you get life maybe , anything about crime except law abiding citizens
Some of the press keeps pushing that he used a Bushmaster “Assault” Rifle. Others say he had 2 handguns. And most voters shrug. Truth? What’s that?
At least so far it’s a state thing. If the people of CT put up with it. The whole thing was a knee-jerk reaction built on the graves of those killed. I think it would be poetic justice if Ruger, Colt, and those other arms manufactures moved out of state. Think of the loss of jobs and tax revenue. Actions do have consequences.
Politicians always like to gather around some weepers and victims when they sign Bullhseit legislation.
Are these the same ones who gathered around Obama?
Yay. And now the State of Conn will have more to do defending this new law in the courts, one provision at a time.
Collectivism, like sin, complicates things.
This law is based on nothing but emotion. He needed emotional people to continue the farce.
I’m sure everybody in Connecticut is feeling safer tonite.
Only the terminally stupid.
It won’t matter if they go to another state. The blue states will pass a law prohibiting weapons from being brought across the state line.
And just who is it that is going to be removing these legislators and governors from office when they express such total distain for the law and limitations on their power?
Connecticut is already well on the way to disarming their citizens, so the Second Amendment is soon to become a moot point, no longer able to defend adequately the rest of the Constitution.
Maybe peasants armed with pitchforks and torches will have to get the job done. But when things get to that point, it never ends well.
No doubt. One never knows what one will do insa specific situation, but I don’t think I would be interested inbeing used in this manner by this flaming liberal BS artist.
Those people are grieving. It’s not normal to lose a child. They are emotional and not thinking and reasoning. I understand what motivates them. The Governor? That’s a different matter. He’s using these people and that’s unforgivable.
Dancing on coffins. So... Feinstein had her anti-constitution plan ready a year earlier, just waiting for the perfect opportunity. How much did Bloomburg give you, governor?
Remember Hillary’s “It’s for the children”? Communists will use every emotional hook they can to get total control.
No, it's a national thing. Look at Colorado. Georgia's next. It's all coming from Bloomberg, Obama, Biden.
Not hollering at you, just agreeing in another way.
Grieving? was post birth abortion different from pre birth abortion?.....
i don’t even care, as long as this stays in CT. If the people of this state want to make themselves and their fellow CT citizens criminals with this law then so be it.
They voted for the socialist lawyers running that state.
My best friends daughter was murdered last July at the age of 21. My friend will never be the same.
My son and his wife lost their only child in a single car accident.
Both sets of parents are grieving. It's NOT about abortion. Neither are these parents grief.
that would still be a state thing. there is so much documentation to show the legal right to carry actually stops violent crime and in particular violent break ins. yet the lawyers in power just want more power and your money.
While you're there, look at all the lib scumbags who are cheering this POS along. Disgusting.
I live in NY and I sure as hell didn’t vote for Cuomo. There are people that get caught up in the commies traps that opposed them.
Thank you. It sounds irrational comparing the situations. Not a good look, to be honest.
"It's just the beginning of this bill. In six months from now, it's going to get stronger and stronger," Dan Garrett said. "I think they're watching us all over the country."
Total confiscation of all privately owned firearms is their objective.
The idiots. In the 20th century 56 million people were murdered by their own governments.
Those companies should pick up and leave. They should also take as few employees as is needed to start over in another state. Those left behind can rely on Connecticut to take care of them. Truly, starve the beast.
Nice map in the WSJ today. Shows states that are making their gun laws stronger, and those that are making their gun laws weaker.
Guess who’s winning?
If the NY Times published this information, the headline would be “Many States Pass New Laws on Firearms.”
I flew Connecticut for Texas in 2011. See my smile? :)
Get out of there CT FReepers!
Here’s an overview: http://www.armsdealer.net/businesses/category/gun-manufacturers/connecticut
More importantly think Sikorsky, Pratt & Whitney, Groton Submarine, etc. The history and heritage of Connecticut in national defense is notable. http://www.defensetech.net/New%20England%20Defense%20Study_06_20_12.pdf
My understanding is he used the Bushmaster...and bullets recovered from victims as well as dropped magazines validate that he used it. The reports state he fired 152 rounds.
And, he had two pistols with him, and he used one to kill himself.
And, there is video of the police pulling a shotgun out of the car.
Now what I don’t know, and find frustrating - how many magazines did he use. The premise of the 10 round magazine limit is that he would have had to have 16 magazines, instead of 6. Ok...but did he really only use 6? One report stated that some of the magazines were half used. So, maybe his magazine use was closer to 16 than 6. Then what? The magazine limit argument goes out of the water.
And btw, why did he drop half empty magazines? One benefit is that there is always a round in the chamber...so he can insert his next magazine without risk of some hero rushing and tackling him. So now what? Couldn’t he do this with 10 magazines, 15 magazines, 20 magazines whatever...nothing stops him from continuing on with his spree. He loses a couple of extra seconds switching things out, but so what?
And another puzzler - he killed 26 people. If for some reason he were limited by gun laws to a very limited number of 10 round magazines, say three, he’d just me more deliberate with his shots...and still kill 26 people.
