HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, who four months ago broke the news to shocked parents that their children had been slaughtered in a Connecticut elementary school, signed into law Thursday sweeping new restrictions on weapons and large capacity ammunition magazines similar to the ones used by the man who gunned down 20 child and six educators in the massacre.

Alongside family members of some of the victims of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Malloy signed the bill hours after the General Assembly approved the measure to give the state some of the toughest gun laws in the country.

I live in NY and I sure as hell didn’t vote for Cuomo. There are people that get caught up in the commies traps that opposed them.

Thank you. It sounds irrational comparing the situations. Not a good look, to be honest.

They have a plan ...

Yep.

"It's just the beginning of this bill. In six months from now, it's going to get stronger and stronger," Dan Garrett said. "I think they're watching us all over the country."

Total confiscation of all privately owned firearms is their objective.

The idiots. In the 20th century 56 million people were murdered by their own governments.

Those companies should pick up and leave. They should also take as few employees as is needed to start over in another state. Those left behind can rely on Connecticut to take care of them. Truly, starve the beast.

Nice map in the WSJ today. Shows states that are making their gun laws stronger, and those that are making their gun laws weaker.

Guess who’s winning?

We are.

If the NY Times published this information, the headline would be “Many States Pass New Laws on Firearms.”

Here’s an overview: http://www.armsdealer.net/businesses/category/gun-manufacturers/connecticut

More importantly think Sikorsky, Pratt & Whitney, Groton Submarine, etc. The history and heritage of Connecticut in national defense is notable. http://www.defensetech.net/New%20England%20Defense%20Study_06_20_12.pdf

My understanding is he used the Bushmaster...and bullets recovered from victims as well as dropped magazines validate that he used it. The reports state he fired 152 rounds.

And, he had two pistols with him, and he used one to kill himself.

And, there is video of the police pulling a shotgun out of the car.

Now what I don’t know, and find frustrating - how many magazines did he use. The premise of the 10 round magazine limit is that he would have had to have 16 magazines, instead of 6. Ok...but did he really only use 6? One report stated that some of the magazines were half used. So, maybe his magazine use was closer to 16 than 6. Then what? The magazine limit argument goes out of the water.

And btw, why did he drop half empty magazines? One benefit is that there is always a round in the chamber...so he can insert his next magazine without risk of some hero rushing and tackling him. So now what? Couldn’t he do this with 10 magazines, 15 magazines, 20 magazines whatever...nothing stops him from continuing on with his spree. He loses a couple of extra seconds switching things out, but so what?

And another puzzler - he killed 26 people. If for some reason he were limited by gun laws to a very limited number of 10 round magazines, say three, he’d just me more deliberate with his shots...and still kill 26 people.

Well said, and if those firms do not move, you can bet that there are a few people that will never buy arms from them ever again.

Thanks. I appreciate the info.

Colt has been here for 173 years. I’d hate to see them go, but completely understand if they did.

The Democrat preferred method of defense in a Lanza scenario is to cower and hide or rush the shooter. Well, that’s what they tell us. But Lanza had to change mags at lesat five times and nobody thought to rush him.

But for a Democrat inaction is preferable to doing the right thing.
