(AP) – A Connecticut shop that sold a gun to the Newtown school shooter's mother has lost its federal firearms license. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives revoked the license of Riverview Gun Sales in East Windsor, about 15 miles north of Hartford, in December. The agency didn't disclose why.

Aren’t there numerable weapons and ammo factories in Connecticut? And if so, why don’t they close up and move?

I have been there. Nice guys. A while back some guy swiped a 50 call and ran out the door. He was caught, was also a convicted felon, and got almost no jail time. Tell me again who the bad guys are?

Might as well close up shop and move South. They can't sell anything anyways. If you are a conservative, traditionalist, Christian, or capitalist, you need to get out of CA, CT, MA, NH, VT, NY, NJ, MD, IL, DE, CO, maybe even PA.

My banks no longer hold any positions in municipal bonds in CA, NY, IL, or NJ. They are debating the long term effect of liberalism on the above said other states.

If they really want to close you they will find a reason. Any technicality will do. Look hard enough and you can find one.

So what exactly stops this from being the way that Mr. “If Congress Won’t Act, I Will” does his 2nd Amendment end around? He can simply say that gun violence is so grave an issue that he’s immediately ordering that ATF suspend all licenses pending a review.

“There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What’s there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted and you create a nation of law-breakers — and then you cash in on guilt. Now that’s the system.”

"Did you really think we want those laws observed? said Dr. Ferris. We want them to be broken. You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against... We're after power and we mean it... There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Reardon, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with.

The agency didn't disclose why.

That's obvious - because they sold a weapon to someone who was going to allow herself to be murdered and have her weapon stolen by a mass murderer.

Don't be silly.

“Did they do anything illegal? If not then what’s up?”

The Holder Justice department knows that it can always come up with some reason. There are plenty of laws out there. And, really, what difference does it make?

Who is going to prosecute the persecutors?

Maybe the Congress should hold Holder in contempt? (Done that, no effect)

This is the most lawless administration since Franklin Roosevelt.

It is discredit all those evil gun shops and their owners in the media.

The move to cancel their license was made to grab another nation wide sound bite or headline and milk the publicity of the tragedy for as long as possible.

And it will scare the hell out of all other gun shop owners. They can move to Texas (And I hope they do). But the firearms license comes from the feds. The only way to stop this is by secession. Well, there’s another way but....

What I heard why it was yanked is because they are missing an AR-15, when ATF did inventory. East Windsor is one of the state’s best towns.

Even more prescient, George Orwell’s 1984 which was written in 1948. Orwell reversed the last two numbers for the title. His Newspeak Dictionary is classic and foretold today’s political correctness. Just recently the AP has “revised” it’s style book to remove the term “illegal immigrant”. And so it goes.

The history of prohibition aside, Thomas Jefferson and Justice John Marshall had clarified that the states have never delegated to Congress the power to regulate intrastate commerce.
“For the power given to Congress by the Constitution does not extend to the internal regulation of the commerce of a State, (that is to say of the commerce between citizen and citizen,) which remain exclusively (emphases added) with its own legislature; but to its external commerce only, that is to say, its commerce with another State, or with foreign nations, or with the Indian tribes.” –Thomas Jefferson, Jefferson’s Opinion on the Constitutionality of a National Bank : 1791.

"State inspection laws, health laws, and laws for regulating the internal commerce of a State, and those which respect turnpike roads, ferries, &c. are not within the power granted to Congress (emphasis added)." --Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

As a side note concerning ATF, please consider the following. Regarding agricultural products like alcohol and tobacco, before Constitution-ignoring socialist FDR nuked the Supreme Court with activist justices, Supreme Court had clarified, in terms of the 10th Amendment nonetheless, that Congress has no constitutional authority to regulate intrastate agriculture.

"From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited. None to regulate agricultural production is given, and therefore legislation by Congress for that purpose is forbidden (emphasis added)." --United States v. Butler, 1936.

Sadly, the reason that the gun shop owner is letting the ATF walk all over him is likely the following. Like most other citizens, the proprietor's parents/guardians probably did not make sure that their son was taught the Constitution and its history in school, particularly Congress's Article I, Section 8-limited powers.

Even more sadly, it wouldn't matter either way, because his judge, jury, and prosecutor weren't, and they couldn't care less, since it would get in the way of almighty legal precedent.
