LOL! Looks like deep-fried, soft-shell crabs to me.
I'd like to try them one of these days. The only seafood that we have here that is "soft shell" is lobster, and that's NOT really soft, it's just not as imperviously hard as regular lobster, because the lobster has recently molted.
