Woodward: Dinner with Al Gore 'unpleasant'

By DYLAN BYERS | 4/5/13 12:32 PM EDT

The Washington Post's Bob Woodward has described a dinner he had with former Vice President Al Gore was both "taxing" and "unpleasant."

Speaking to a crowd at Ohio's Youngstown State University on Thursday, Woodward said he was sitting next to Gore at a dinner when the former vice president asked him why he hadn't been harder on President George W. Bush over the Iraq War, according to a report in the Youngstown Vindicator.

Woodward said that Gore, who had been a journalist in his younger days, “thinks he invented [reporting], also" -- a reference to the popular joke that Gore once claimed to have invented the Internet.

Dinner with Gore was “taxing,” Woodward said. “To be really honest, it’s unpleasant.”

Algore is a bitter clinger still clinging to his worthless carbon credit certificates. I’ll bet he spent some big bucks having them printed.

Bob was relevant for fifteen minutes a few weeks ago when he almost told an interesting, relevant story. But he dropped it in favor of I don’t know what.

He misses the spotlight, I guess. But this is a very uninteresting piece. The most irrelevant piece of news since 1972 perhaps.

Didn’t Algore make something in the hundreds of millions from selling his tv network to Al Jazeera?

I figure that would make him a happy guy.

Gore must have demanded that Woodward give him the happy ending.

Anyone with an agenda they’re going to ram down your throat is an unpleasant companion. One should spend at least 50% of companion time listening. I try to make it 60% or better.

I'm sure eating with ManBearPig is unpleasant. If not a bit dangerous if you stray too close to his pie-hole.

But I'd risk it if he had dinner at one of his mansions. I'm crazy from big over-the-top ostentations palaces.

Just thinking of being in the same room with him, watching him gorge himself makes me queasy. He is the epitome of gluttony.

As fat as that f-er is, you know he has to have a wiper to go with him to the bathroom.

Probably the same person emloyed as a taster for BO.

Algore needs to deal with it. His hoax and scam if over. Time to “build a consensus” about something else. Maybe it’s not too late for him to get in on that African email scam.

Where is the picture of Gore, during his short time as a journalist in Vietnam, bent over his M16’s barrel adjusting the sling? If only he had a weapons malfunction then, we would be better off now!

Having dinner with Gore has to be difficult, probably because Gore kept trying to steal Woodward’s food.

Added at the end of the Politico article now:

UPDATE (12:38 p.m.): An editor here informs me that Woodward has told this story a few times before, including at a book festival last year on the Washington Mall.

So, apparently, the reporter was not aware that Woodward had told the story before, and that the event had happened quite a while ago.
