Newly freed prisoners traditionally walk away from the penitentiary with a bus ticket and a few dollars in their pockets. Starting in January, many of the 650,000 inmates released from prison each year will be eligible for something else: health care by way of Medicaid, thanks to the Affordable Care Act.
A sizeable portion of the nearly 5 million ex-offenders who are on parole or probation at any given time will also be covered.
The expansion of Medicaid, a key provision of the health care reform law, is the main vehicle for delivering health insurance to former prisoners.

However, they will have to give up receiving unemployment checks once they are released from prison in order to be eligible.

Or maybe instead of NOT having to pay tuition they are instead PAID to study at some University...?
Today I’m nutz, sure, but in 5 years I’ll be seen as prescient.
Who the hell did anybody think made up the vast majority of the 30-40 million uninsured number the left was crying about during their campaign for Obamacare's? Did anyone think the left was going to reveal that during that campaign for it?
They will look out for ex-cons while cutting out medicine and chemo for those over 70.
There’s a good chance they’ll be putting voting booths in prisons. I’m not kidding.
Starting to discover why those foolish states that “elected” to expand Medicaid will need to be well lubricated. This is only the beginning, wait until they start changing the rules and then, in the name of budget cuts, stop paying for the expanded Medicaid program entitlements....at that point, additional lubrication will not ease the pain!!!!
