Target has apologized for referring to its "plus-size kimono maxi dress" as manatee gray. This is a mammal, after all, that is sometimes referred to as a sea cow.
An irritated shopper tweeted what many saw as an insult. Regular sizes were "dark heather gray," but the plus size got the "manatee" label. It didn't take long for Target to zap the plus-size gaffe from its website and issue an apology.
A spokeswoman told Today.com on Thursday the retailer was sorry for "any discomfort" and never intended to offend. Spokeswoman Jessica Deede noted that this color was "seasonal" at Target, and a check of the website revealed that many products came in manatee gray.

What would we do without “irritated shoppers” who tweet? Sounds to me like this moron needs to get a job or a hobby. Maybe both.
How bout elephant grey? Or better, RINO grey.
Now if Target had a guy with a tuba playing a tune as they walked out of the store in their Manatee tent, THEN they’d have something to complain about.

I had a shirt in the early 90’s that was black and white but I didn’t think anything of it, I just liked the shirt. I was in college and someone laughed and said “you’re wearing a cow shirt”. I looked down and realized it did look cow-print like. I said “Hey, are you calling me fat?” It was a size medium - 6, so although not plus size, girls can get very self-conscious. The guy said “ No, you’re not fat but it draws attention to your utters!” Ha Ha Ha I never wore that shirt again!
It actually looks more like “Battleship Grey” but of course then you have the femi-nazi’s implying that we are saying they are as BIG as a Battleship’s
I much prefer the slightly lighter shade, “Pachyderm Gray”.
I wonder if they also stock that dress in, “ Mysticeti blue”.
Or perhaps a lovely “Bovine brown”.
