The Defense Department came under fire Thursday for a U.S. Army Reserve presentation that classified Catholics and Evangelical Protestants as extremist religious groups alongside al Qaeda and the Ku Klux Klan.
The presentation detailed a number of extremist threats within the U.S. military, including white supremacist groups, street gangs, and religious sects.
The presentation identified seventeen religious organizations in a slide titled religious extremism. They include al Qaeda, Hamas, the Filipino separatist group Abu Sayyaf, and the Ku Klux Klan, which the slide identifies as a Christian organization.
Religious extremism is not limited to any single religion, ethnic group, or region of the world, the slide explains, in language that closely resembles the text of a Wikipedia page on extremism.

From the slide narrative: …every religion has some followers that believe their beliefs, customes and traditions are the only "right way" and that all others are practicing their faith the "wrong way," seeing and believing that their faith/religion superior to all others.
I think that is the definition of a "believer."
I guess the only acceptable religious beliefs from anybody are no real religious beliefs at all. Sunday morning social club...
The Westboro “Baptist” “Church” (the ones who picket the servicemen’s funerals) are NOT Evangelicals. They are what can be called a “False Flag Operation”. Mostly related and inbred, this is a group that has been seen hobnobbing with Al Gore, and fundraising for democrat causes. By giving themselves the title of “Baptist” in their name, they immediately invoke reactions such as yours. It’s entirely natural and understandable, and many people get caught by that “Baptist Church” thingy.

My conclusion is, it was a female 2nd Lt, and I'll tell you why:
The extra duty position of Equal Opportunity Officer exists in every major command, mandated by political correctness and command emphasis from "echelons above reality". In every unit I was assigned to over 26 years, the EO Officer has been 2nd or 1st Lt, and has been black, female, or both, either of which always had an axe to grind.
The only exception to that rule was in my very last unit. The EO Officer was a female O-2 of Asian extraction, with a personal crusade. The Brigade Commander vented his fury during the EO brief, NOT because of the "we-must-be-fair-to-all" doctrine, but because any EO complaints would affect his OER. Follow the money.
Given the fact that the "fairness crusader" in this incident got the data from SPLC, with their recent publishing of over 1,200 groups considered extremists (most of them bring Tea Party and patriot groups), it's not a stretch to realize the extent to which Americans are being targeted.
Any officer, commissioned or not, who believes this tripe and passes onto those under his command should be drummed out with a DD. The oath is to support and defend the constitution...he has violated the most basic point of that oath, amendment one, freedom of church and perhaps assembly.
It’s actually good for the Body of Christ when the government turns against them.
I believe that you have nailed it. They got the information from the SPLC. This is one of every company commander's nightmares.
A hip-pocket EO brief? That’s....kind of odd. Usually those things come from on high out of the PC Ring of the Pentagon or the seventh sub-level of hell in HRC.
Mark, I just went through the entire presentation.
The overwhelming majority of the presentation is anti-white/Christian; the inclusion of any non-white/non-Christian group is either an afterthought, or smoke to give the impression of “balance”.
It’s as if all the presenter did was download SPLC’s hard drives.
Something looks fake about this. “Morman”,,,is that really how it showed on the slide? I notice Nation of Islam and Jewish Defense League are on there as well.
My thoughts, exactly.
That's how we know it's the real deal.
What this means is:
These are the folks who might fight back, when they realize the regime is trying to destroy Americas Freedoms
Relax FReepers, youve been the list for a long time already.
The SPLC is in Hillary’s pocket.
Hillary’s coming out of the gate making her run for 2016.
Excuse me? I thought Free Republic had a policy against posting extremist threats like that.
Ping for future use
I wouldn’t even say hip-pocket. The Army has clearly said this is not Army material. If it were Army material, it would have been staffed, and that would have required it making its way through a review by the Chaplaincy and by JAG, either of which would have flagged the “catholic” section without even a second thought.
I would say a powerpoint buck sergeant took some sources and put together a slide.
My concern would be the brainwashing in his earlier years that prevented him from seeing the silliness of some of the groups he placed on that list.
So, it’s a cultural/media issue and not a military issue.

Curious that they don’t list Shia Islam and Hezbollah along with Sunni Islam and Hamas.
