SC Sen. Bright readies for possible US Senate run
SFGate ^ | JEFFREY COLLINS

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — State Sen. Lee Bright thinks America is at a vital crossroads and must make the right decisions to survive. The Spartanburg County lawmaker's political career seems to be at a similar juncture, as he decides whether to cash in on his conservative credentials and take on U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham in the 2014 Republican primary.

Bright hasn't definitively announced he is running. But he has thrown out plenty of signs. He spent the winter touring the state, holding public hearings for his bill eliminating the need for a permit to carry a gun in public. He said Graham's criticism of a filibuster by U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, a darling of tea party and other conservative Republicans, nearly pushed him over the edge. And he was the first guest of Glenn Beck as the talk show host is auditioning people to beat Graham in 2014.

"We've got a choice. Either we're going to have a nation or we're not," Bright told Beck. "If we don't get behind Rand Paul and what he is trying to do and the Ted Cruz's of the world, I don't think we can survive. We're at the tipping point. People have realized they can vote away the possession of others. They can even get a free cellphone. We're at a point if we don't make our stand now, there will be nothing to stand for."

I really, really pray we can get every Freeper behind this effort and every poster at every other grassroots conservative website because this will be an enormous effort.

Once we have a candidate (this guy is a leading contender) then we need to be able to fund him. Graham will have MILLIONS of dollars. This is arguably one of the most important targets in 2014 to get rid of this piece of trash.

There is going to be a massive effort on facebook and elsewhere (I and others will see to that). Former supporters of Ron Paul detest Graham and consider him to be a top target but we cannot do it alone.

We will be planning moneybombs and other events to help the candidate compete effectively and communicate his message to the good people of SC.

We hope to have talk radio on board and grassroots organizations like Club 4 Growth. Glenn Beck and Mark Levin have already said they have had it with Graham and will hopefully be able to help get the word out.

This will be a big effort but if we pull it off it will send a HUGE message to the GOP establishment.

You will be seeing it a lot more soon as we get closer to D-Day (14 months) will you join the effort? There's also this one: Graham is like a gift that keeps on giving. We will have a lot of fun hunting this RINO!

Bright is my new hero. Past time to kick Linda Graham out and bring in some fresh Conservative meat. Pi$$ off Graham!

You betcha!
I’m on upchuck’s ping list and keeping abreast of SC politics.
You can add me to yours, if you wish.
I’ll be happy to back the strongest TEA Party candidate to unseat Linda!

I’ve been hoping for years for this low life RINO to be primaried and now finally someone is going to try! I really have no confidence in the ballot box accomplishing much anymore, but it would be worth it to see this open border gun grabbing appeaser politically DEEP SIXED into oblivion!

A defeat for Sen Graham would pose a problem. Would he stay in town, or would he do a long-range commute to continue dating Sen. McCain?

>>Grahamnesty’s days are numbered

That’s what people thought the last time he stood for election. If (BIG if) the state GOP doesn’t protect Grahamnesty from a primary challenge like last time, SC is an open primary state; so the Dhimmis won’t run a candidate and will just have all their people vote in the GOP primary for the “best Democrat they could hope for”. Add to that the warchest that Grahamnesty will have amassed and it’s not going to be easy to remove him.

I doubt Dems will want to vote in a GOP primary.

They might also want to boost the challenger thinking they can beat him (which they can’t) in November.

Yes, it’s going to be difficult with his war chest of special interest cash but we’re going to force him to campaign and give him a bloody nose and you never know what can happen.

As soon as State Sen. Lee Bright throws his hat into the ring, McCain's butt attachment (Lindsey Graham) will turn hard right...

eGOP will run attack ads...

They will do whatever to protect their own...bought and sold RINO's

I hope nobody buys it...

I want to see Graham gone..but I have a few questions..

Is this guy the one to do it..and also win the general election? Is he getting the nod just because he's the first to announce? Any other possibilities?

Once you all have settled on a conservative to oppose Graham, you MUST get DeMint to endorse the person. If DeMint isn't willing to endorse, then I don't think you have a chance of pulling it off.
