Demographics Favor the GOP — Unless They Blow It
Investor's Business Daily ^ | 04/04/2013 | M. STANTON EVANS

Posted on 04/07/2013 8:56:45 AM PDT by dontreadthis

No one could possibly guess it from the TV talk or coverage by the daily press corps, but the Republican Party stands today at the threshold of historic political victories. The forces pushing things in this direction are so strong that the permanent campaign of Barack Obama, the public sector unions and the like can't prevail against them. The liberals this time are on the wrong side of history, and there is little they can do on their own to change the almost certain downfall that awaits them. However, nothing in politics is absolutely certain, and there is an X factor in the equation that could keep the GOP from a victorious future. This barrier, ironically, is the party's own alleged leadership in the Republican National Committee, a swarm of GOP "consultants", and top echelons of Congress — where the preferred mode of battle appears to be piecemeal surrender.

Showing the importance of this sector, notes columnist Mark LaRochelle, is the fact that evangelical voters alone comprised 26% of the electorate in last November's contest, and that 78% of these went for the GOP.

And the Republican party has been sending a clear message to that critical 26% of the electorate. We don't like you. You embarrass us.

So shut up, don't come to our convention, just get out of sight and go to the polls and vote Republican on election day.

That and pandering to Latinos is the Republican party strategy for the future, plus a few other equally 'brilliant' components.

My thoughts exactly. The GOP is extremely good at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. It has happened far more times than I care to remember.

It is a caution, isn't it?

At some point, Einstein's definition of insanity should needfully be applied.

I am a fan of M. Stanton Evans. He wrote the fantastic and vindicating bio on Joe McCarthy, but I do not agree that the demographics favor the GOP. They should; they could. But they do not.

Since 1944, when World War II was winding down, there have been exactly three elections in which the GOP selected a genuine conservative instead of a RINO: 1964, 1980 and 1984.

1984 was because we had an incumbent conservative president and the RINO wing had no choice but to go along.

1964 and 1980 was because the conservative wing got united behind a single candidate early and was able to force the RINO wing into a background role. They did so in 1980 because Reagan chose a RINO for the VP slot. They refused to do so in 1964 and helped re-elect LBJ. There's a lesson here.

They’re certain to blow it.

Let’s us import about fifteen million Democrat-voting Mehhhicccanns—what could possibly go wrong with that?

Optimism got us President Romney. Nevermind. We are on a sinking ship damaged by a massive tide of low information voters. We need reality, not rallying.

I think, given the idiots who run the Republican party we can pretty much guarantee they will blow it at some point.

Evans is of course right, over the long run, Our key problems are still:

1: The race barrier we must convince minorities and Hispanics in particular to vote their values rather than what democrats define as their race.

2: Separate the issues of illegal immigration and Hispanics. Put a white, black, and Asian criminal face on illegal immigration.

Surrendering on aminist is a major strategic setback, almost as big as when republicans 40 years ago allowed the Democrats to take over education and transform the public education system into an indoctrination system. That brings us to the 3rd point:

3: education, we absoulty must break the democrats choke hold on public and private education. We have the power to do this in many if not most states. We must reintorduce State and Federal Constitutional law as written. focuse education again on the ideas of Jefferson, washington, and the elightenment. NOT the corruption of the progressive era or even the so called “Civil rights” movement as liberals teach it.

“Civil rights” are not products of the government power but reservations of natural rights of the people.
That is what you teach about ‘civil rights’.

When it comes to Washington’s GOP experts it seem to me most of them have been infiltrated by leftist saboteurs. Either that or they too have been encased inside the Washington political bubble.

Dead wrong. It’s this silly “happy talk” that got us into this mess. Do they just make this stuff up as they go along?

That doesn’t mean that Conservatism can not survive and thrive, but it sure ain’t because of demographics. Demographics are against us BIG time.

This x 1000!

Until we gain more influence in the education system and the media, it’s going to be increasingly difficult to win national elections.

The liberals have won, hopefully only temporarily, in the arenas that matter in the long term: education and media. That’s not pessimism. It’s reality. Those areas must be the immediate focus of conservative’s energy.

We’re never going to have a team capable of trouncing the Globetrotters, as long as we keep voting for the Washington Generals.

I’ll bet the farm they once again will go for an old pathetic party hack like McLame, Dull Dole or some Mormon like Mitt?

No, they know that we're finally wising up to them. Watch for them to trot out a new face like Rubio, who's already in training to be the next George HW Mitt McDole.

Does GOP Establishment Stupidity Have Any Limits?

It's my belief that the GOP is not inherently stupid, it's that they are inherently weak and easily succomb to public pressure, even when they know what the right course of action is.

I also believe that the Democrats and the MSM know this, and always put on a full-court press against the Republicans to push them towards the positions that the Democrats want.

And the Republicans never fail to cave under the pressure.

It's gotten so bad that the Democrats don't even have to pressure anymore. They just have to remain silent and let Boehner and McConnell imagine the pressure and negotiate with themselves to give up their strong cards without getting anything in return.
