O'Reilly blasts same-sex marriage critics
CNN ^ | 3/27/2013 | Ashley Killough

(CNN) - Bill O'Reilly, the conservative Fox News host, believes same-sex marriage advocates have a more convincing argument than opponents, who do nothing but rehash scripture to make their point.

"The compelling argument is on the side of homosexuals," O'Reilly said Tuesday on Fox. "That's where the compelling argument is. 'We're Americans. We just want to be treated like everybody else.' That's a compelling argument, and to deny that, you have got to have a very strong argument on the other side. The argument on the other side hasn't been able to do anything but thump the Bible."

O'Reilly has previously stated he takes a libertarian view on the issue, and repeated Tuesday night that it's a decision that should be left up to the states. "I support civil unions. I always have. The gay marriage thing, I don't feel that strongly about it one way or another."

Both sides of the debate clashed this week in Washington as the Supreme Court hears challenges to two cases dealing with the issue.

O'Reilly has been less critical of so-called Bible thumpers in the past. In a May 2009 column on his website, he again argued the matter should be decided by states but also said he understands that "most Americans believe heterosexual marriage deserves a special place in our society."

"Our Judeo-Christian traditions, which have made the United States the most prosperous and just society the world has ever known, speak to a family built around a responsible mother and a father-certainly the optimum when it comes to raising children," he wrote.

But, he argued, people who feel strongly about traditional marriage "have allowed themselves to be intimidated" and have refused to stand up for what they believe in.

Well there you have it.

STFU big mouth.

I;m sick of these so called Catholics preaching against what their faith requires and then telling others to accept what they accept.

Just why on this earth do any freepers or conservatives watch this big mouth arrogant ass is beyond me and that goes for Hannity too who seems to be unable to mention conservative social issues because he doesn;t want to upset his liberal pro turd pushing agenda pals like Colmes and Beckel and after all they won’t be invited to the elitist cocktail parties out in NY City.

O.R is a big headed arrogant fool who seems to think the world evolves around him.

Why does anyone watch this fool anyway?

Does he still say”You;re wrong and I will tell you why”

As if he is always right

The critics have more than scripture, they have 5 thousand years of human history behind them.

exactly
most I know oppose homosexuality because they think it’s sick, twisted and certainly disgusting.

For a guy to say he;s proud of sticking it up a hole where feces comes out of every day and then saying he;s turned on by pushing this feces back into the body shows how mentally sick these people are and those who support this.
Tat goes for these homosexual who say they are turned on by women not men but then act like a guy and then have to buy a strap on and then act like a guy during sex to another woman who hates men but likes the women pretending to be a guy.

If anyone thinks that is normal, and there is no mental disorder there then they need to check themselves in.

Oh and when I have said this to those who support their agenda they always say Yuck I never thought of it like that, that is sick.

Sadly many on the right can; speak up and then shy away from saying anything when this issue comes up because they like in fear of being called a name the poor things especially when others have died for this country in the past .

Do you hear that GOP you cowards and most of talk radio like Hannity

He was against Gay marriage now he's evolved, I guess. Be nice to see his ratings take a hit. He's all for the fame and money anyway it comes versus getting the fame and money by integrity. I thought he was faithful to his faith. He says that he is. I pray God will intervene in man's deception and turn us around from this bad path in which some have put us on.

In a cynical attempt to appear thoughtful bill O Reilly demonstrates his ignorance.

Many arguments have been put forward that have nothing to do with Bible thumping. A life defined by and centered around sexual deviance does not in any way, shape or form parallel normal understanding. Society does not benefit by encouraging degraded states in it members.

I reject homo whatever because I believe they are mentally ill.

Right there with you, gunner. There is nothing normal about same sex attraction. It's a mental disorder, and our culture recognized it as such until only recently. In fact, I'm of the belief that most people still do.

When I asked, “What is the argument on the other side???” I was referring to the example I gave about the fact that 630,000 citizens of Washington, DC, pay 100% taxes but have NO vote in Congress on how their tax money is spent. I would love to see as detailed answer on that question as the one you mistakenly provided.

Ah, in my best Emily Litella voice, “Never mind.”
:)

Now to address the question you actually asked ...

Most of the people who actually LIVE in DC don’t even work. They are on welfare.

Most of the people who actually WORK in DC, live in the surrounding suburbs in appropriately represented states.

For those who actually work AND live in DC, they should be excused from having to pay any Federal tax at all, except Medicare and Social Security, since they will be able to benefit from that.

Nobody is forcing people to live in DC. If they’re so bothered about the taxation situation there, they can always move.

Bill, if you want to change 2000+ years of tradition and law then you need a better argument.

Hopefully O’Reilly’s ratings will tank and now FOX can replace his show with something worth while.

Seriously, I watched O’Reilly for about three months until he began to get tiresome. I bailed quick. He is too populist for my taste.

My suspicion is that if he began to speak out against gay marriage, he would be attacked by the homosexuals for his failure to remain true to his vows...remember the affair with his producer from a few years back?
