Interesting point - man marrying son. "The interviewer said that would be incest, and therefore illegal — to which Irons responded no it wouldn’t, since the idea behind incest laws is to prevent deformed offspring, "

Maybe incest laws interfere with 'rights'. What next?

Bill is a homo in his own right. If two homosexuals wanted to adopt a grandchild of his he would find nothing wrong with them using his little grandbaby as a sperm bank.

I’m still trying to understand how the homo marriage thing jives with separation of church and state.

the govt can make all the noises it wants... churches do not have to follow it.

> What is the argument on the other side???

The argument is simply this.

Like Canada and the Netherlands, it will become illegal to teach against homosexuality. It almost is now.

It will be illegal to deny to homosexual “couples” services reserved for marriage and married couples.

It will be illegal to preach the gospel, because you won’t be able to preach SIN. Can’t preach the good news without preaching the bad news first.

“Safe” sex will be taught in the government schools not just for heterosexual couplings, but for homosexual ones, right down to the kindergarten level.

Brainwashing of little children about homosexuality can begin in earnest.

Those who believe the Bible is the Word of God will be even more marginalized than they are today, with their jobs, businesses, livelihoods, freedoms, and even their lives in jeopardy.

All these things have already started, and they will become much worse once the marriage of homosexuals becomes endorsed by the power of the state.

Imagine life in the United States as one unending, daily celebration of homosexuality, a perpetual gay pride parade.

“O’Reilly is an egomaniac that will say anything to make himself look good.

He probably thinks caving on the issue makes him look wise against the “far-right fringe”.”

I think your right, hes not even paying attention to the propose and nature of the institution of marriage. The reason behind condemnation of the sin of sodomy.

Unfortunately most of our modern civilization has forgotten what real marriage is too, this is in itself the primary reason they are unable to defend it. Marriage for most people today is about a feeling among the parents, not for the children.

Looking back just 300 years ago and this idea of marriage seems almost ridiculousness given that so many marriages were in fact arranged. If marriage was all about love and not about children why on earth would any marriage have been arranged?

Marriage is primarily about children, it is not suitable nor should it be desirable if you have not capacity of children for which it was meant to protect.

I;m sick of these so called Catholics preaching against what their faith requires and then telling others to accept what they accept.

Just why on this earth do any freepers or conservatives watch this big mouth arrogant ass is beyond me and that goes for Hannity too who seems to be unable to mention conservative social issues because he doesn;t want to upset his liberal pro turd pushing agenda pals like Colmes and Beckel and after all they won’t be invited to the elitist cocktail parties out in NY City.

exactly
most I know oppose homosexuality because they think it’s sick, twisted and certainly disgusting.

For a guy to say he;s proud of sticking it up a hole where feces comes out of every day and then saying he;s turned on by pushing this feces back into the body shows how mentally sick these people are and those who support this.
Tat goes for these homosexual who say they are turned on by women not men but then act like a guy and then have to buy a strap on and then act like a guy during sex to another woman who hates men but likes the women pretending to be a guy.

If anyone thinks that is normal, and there is no mental disorder there then they need to check themselves in.

Oh and when I have said this to those who support their agenda they always say Yuck I never thought of it like that, that is sick.

Sadly many on the right can; speak up and then shy away from saying anything when this issue comes up because they like in fear of being called a name the poor things especially when others have died for this country in the past .

Do you hear that GOP you cowards and most of talk radio like Hannity

In a cynical attempt to appear thoughtful bill O Reilly demonstrates his ignorance.

Many arguments have been put forward that have nothing to do with Bible thumping. A life defined by and centered around sexual deviance does not in any way, shape or form parallel normal understanding. Society does not benefit by encouraging degraded states in it members.

Right there with you, gunner. There is nothing normal about same sex attraction. It's a mental disorder, and our culture recognized it as such until only recently. In fact, I'm of the belief that most people still do.

When I asked, “What is the argument on the other side???” I was referring to the example I gave about the fact that 630,000 citizens of Washington, DC, pay 100% taxes but have NO vote in Congress on how their tax money is spent. I would love to see as detailed answer on that question as the one you mistakenly provided.

Ah, in my best Emily Litella voice, “Never mind.”
:)

Now to address the question you actually asked ...

Most of the people who actually LIVE in DC don’t even work. They are on welfare.

Most of the people who actually WORK in DC, live in the surrounding suburbs in appropriately represented states.

For those who actually work AND live in DC, they should be excused from having to pay any Federal tax at all, except Medicare and Social Security, since they will be able to benefit from that.

Hopefully O’Reilly’s ratings will tank and now FOX can replace his show with something worth while.

Seriously, I watched O’Reilly for about three months until he began to get tiresome. I bailed quick. He is too populist for my taste.

My suspicion is that if he began to speak out against gay marriage, he would be attacked by the homosexuals for his failure to remain true to his vows...remember the affair with his producer from a few years back?

Romans 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

Perhaps it may come as a surprise to some, but sexually transmitted diseases tend to be just a tad higher in incidence between male homosexuals than between a faithful man and his faithful wife.

Does not even nature teach?

But he’s right. The inheritance tax would take his inheritance, and as a son you can only get SS benefits until a certain age (21?). But if you’re the spouse you get more benefits, and there is no “inheritance” since you’re the spouse.

You missed the point. By corrupting the definition of marriage they have opened Pandora’s Box to endless litigation. The “playing games” part started when the rules of the game were changed to include gay “marriage”.

Pro-gay marriage have a very easy argument against this -— Artificial Insemination for Lesbian Couples and Surrogates for Male Couples.

Barring that, they can always adopt.

This argument has been tried and the response has always been thusly.

RE: The actor Jeremy Irons says he’s a libertarian. He said in an interview that perhaps a man should be able to marry his son. That way the son’s inheritance would be assured, since our laws most favor the spouse.

He has a point. Once you change the definition of marriage, nothing will stop the meaning of the word from “evolving” until it will mean anything to anyone, which in effect, makes it meaningless.

RE: Sounds like this Irons guy is throwing a lot of chaff into the air. If a man wants his estate to go to his son he needs to write it into his will and the courts need to stop playing games and recognize a will as written.

Our tax laws DO NOT TAX a spouse’s inheriting a deceased husband’s estate. However our tax laws DO tax children inheriting their deceased parent’s estate.

The solution is to ABOLISH all inheritance taxes ( AKA DEATH or ESTATE taxes ).

In the good old days, Biblical ideals fully supported slavery.

Actually, it was faulty Biblical interpretation that was used to justify slavery. But it was also true Biblical interpretation that led the abolitionist movement and many, many white Christian men who gave their lives to sort it out.

The Republicans with their bowing and scraping are missing the opportunity to point out that economic exploitation of illegal immigrants is the same thing all over again, different day.

From Wikipedia we have ...

The Bible contains several references to slavery. The Bible does not condemn slavery, but in fact supports the regulated practice of it, especially under the Old Testament, but also in the New Testament. <

Male Israelite slaves were to be offered release after seven years of service, with some stipulations.

Foreign slaves and their posterity became the perpetual property of the owner's family, except in the case of certain injuries. The regulation of slavery in the Bible, and absence of outright condemnation of it as an institution, was later used to justify slavery by its defenders. Abolitionists have also used text from the new testament to argue for the manumission of slaves,

Not Judeo-Christian traditions? Where do you think the concept of God given inalienable rights e.g. individual freedom and the economic system that necessarily derives from such came from the government? Wikipedia maybe?

I remember your ambitiousness well on several homosexual sex 'gay' topics - I would term your approach one of passive resistance. REALLY stupid too -you fool no one.
