The British backpacker murdered in India was a 'free spirit' who abandoned the security of home in a bid to see the world, according to friends.
Before Sarah Groves set off for India in July 2012, she posted a message on Facebook which said: 'Quit your job, buy a ticket, get a tan, fall in love, never return.'
Friends have paid tribute to the 25-year-old former public school girl after she was stabbed to death by a Dutch tourist who later told police: 'The Devil took over my body.'
She was staying on a houseboat owned by the family of her Indian boyfriend, who said she was 'like a daughter' to them.

People will say it's “3rd world” mentality/demographics but some of the most prolific and sadistic serial killers have been middle-class white Americans.
I recommend all women going to isolated areas to travel in groups, preferably armed. Both in the US and abroad.
Evil does indeed infest this world and this is a stark reminder.

What is it with these murderous Dutch guys? Is this guy really 7ft tall? I have some Dutch friends and they are all tall but they are liberal pacifists and would not hurt a fly.

She was a pleasnt girl, cute, brunette, raised in the suburbs. "Street Smart" to her, was knowing proper directions to get to her classes.
Anyhoo, this girl decided one day that she was headed -by herself - to *Iran* (of all places) to "help orphans". All of the girls in the house (Mrs WBill included) tried to talk her out of it, but there was no dissuading her. What was worse, was that her parents - both hippie-dippy liberals, both academics of some sort (Bennington? Someplace in Vermont, anyway) - not only DIDN'T talk her out of it, but ENCOURAGED the endeavor.
I never read about her in the news, so I guess that she survived. But, I always wondered.
I blame modern feminism for all this. Bottom line, not everyone is "liberally enlightened" (though, truth be told, they'd be better off with a couple of armed conservative FReepers...) Women CAN'T do everything that they'd like to do. They're not "empowered" for making foolish choices, they just suffer the consequences.
