Beaumont Serial Robber Caught After Victim Shot Him

After striking again early Sunday morning, a Beaumont serial robber has finally been caught, but not before he targeted a victim who fought back.

Beaumont and Lumberton Police collectively captured 21-year-old Scott Allen Willis Sunday after he committed two more robberies in Lumberton.

Police say Willis, along with the help of 22-year-old Malik Washington and 21-year-old Ariel Malveaux, first abducted a woman in the 200 block of Village Creek Parkway.

They drove her to an ATM and made her withdraw money before releasing her.

Then they attempted to rob two women at their home in the 100 block of Dennis Drive.

However, one of the women had the chance to grab a handgun from inside the home and shoot Willis in the abdomen.

Willis, Washington, and Malveaux were arrested later at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont.

Police say the woman acted bravely in self-defense, and want to warn criminals that a county or city line won't stop police from coming after them.

Willis is suspected of also robbing several other women in Beaumont over the last two weeks.

No word yet on whether malveaux and washington were involved in those crimes.

This is why crime is declining. Criminals fear armed citizens at least as much as they fear the system.

Gosh, I wonder why Willis, Malik, and Ariel targeted women instead of men?

Firearms are societies great equalizer for the weak and infirm.

Center-of-mass. Good shooting, ma'am.

So—this happened in Beaumont, TX.

I grew up there, graduated from high school there, and my parents continued to live there until their deaths.

Our last name was is/was Willis. Our skin is fair.

However, I don’t think the Willis in the article is kin to us. He looks more like one of the resident’s sons........

Colorado state senate Democrat troll mouth-breather Evie Hudak would be only to happy to point out to this crime victim how the “statistics are not on your side.”

I wish the woman had shot and killed all of them. I don't think good men understand the anxiety of possible attack women deal with when they leave their house. Even if a woman has a carry permit, she has a much higher possibility of being attacked than a man does.

These men cowards made it their MO to just attack/rob women because they are weaker. It just makes my blood boil to hear a story like this. Shoot to kill the cowardly bastards.

Well said, Marcella. Let me add two thoughts, please:

1. Having a gun does very, very little to change the odds on being attacked. Keeping and bearing arms on a daily basis does, indeed, change one's attitude and encourage most of us to improve our awareness of our surroundings; most criminals, however, aren't skilled enough at victim selection to spot the differences. Having a gun makes all the difference in the world after the fact of an attack, of course, but doesn't do much to prevent attacks.

2. Statistically speaking, there's at least a 20% an American woman will suffer a serious sexual assault at some point in her life: rape or attempted rape, not being patted on the bottom by a high chool class mate at the swimming pool. If we, the people understood what the odds actually are, there'd be no such thing as leftist extremist so-called "gun control" on the national agenda, because millions upon millions more of us would be carrying guns.

I never once asked a concealed carry student why he or she was taking the (unfortunately state-required) class: none of my business, and I've never been the nosy kind, anyway; that said, more than a few of my women students took me aside to explain why they wanted the permit. I heard some truly horrendous stories.

At least two thirds of my students were men. At least 80% of all students were middle-aged or old. Where were the women, who are much more likely to need to defend themselves than men? Where were the young people? I can't tell you more than this: accepting responsibility for one's life and safety seems to be difficult for lots of people.

If this were my sister she’d have told the press that she shot a little high.

“Having a gun makes all the difference in the world after the fact of an attack, of course, but doesn't do much to prevent attacks.”

I wonder if there is a very large pin to pin to front of shirt/blouse, that reads, “I CARRY A GUN” or other statement that lets the cowardly men know they will get shot.

I read this morning there is a Texas bill going through the legislature that will reduce gun carry class time to 4-6 hours. That is so more Texans can get carry permits and get them faster.

I know there are a few other states that are gun friendly, but I'm surely glad I live in Texas and we are passing laws to keep the feds from messing with our guns.

I’m all for women arming themselves, but be careful about quoting that “20% chance...women sexually assaulted in their lifeteim” claim. Many quotes about female sexual assault come from arch-radical feminists. A number of people, including Christian Hoff-Summers, have investigated those claims (and the 1 in 4 college female rape claim) and concluded they don’t hold up to scrutiny.

Here is a button that reads in large letters, “I CARRY A GUN” and in smaller letters under that it reads, “Because a cop is too heavy.” The pin is $3.55. I will get one.

Note this mugshot is from an earlier arrest for kidnapping

My wife is the one to carry when we go out to eat. She doesn’t drink but I do; a no, no in Texas.

Sorry, criminals fear an armed populace only.

The (judicial) system, panders to the criminals, be they drunks, abusers, illegals, etc. There is no fear of the revolving door.

Start bringing the double-tap to the game, when the response to the police should be, “I stopped shooting when I felt safe”, and these sort of problems ‘unexpectedly’ start to disappear.
