'A true friend': President Obama praises Margaret Thatcher

Margaret Thatcher restored "confidence and pride" too Britain was a "true friend" of America, President Barack Obama said today.

Upon the death of the former-prime minister, the US president said she stood as a role model to women everywhere about what they can achieve.

"With the passing of Baroness Margaret Thatcher, the world has lost one of the great champions of freedom and liberty, and America has lost a true friend," he said of the 87-year-old.

"As a grocer’s daughter who rose to become Britain’s first female prime minister, she stands as an example to our daughters that there is no glass ceiling that can’t be shattered.

"As prime minister, she helped restore the confidence and pride that has always been the hallmark of Britain at its best.

"And as an unapologetic supporter of our transatlantic alliance, she knew that with strength and resolve we could win the Cold War and extend freedom’s promise.

Obama added: "Here in America, many of us will never forget her standing shoulder to shoulder with President Reagan, reminding the world that we are not simply carried along by the currents of history—we can shape them with moral conviction, unyielding courage and iron will.

"Michelle and I send our thoughts to the Thatcher family and all the British people as we carry on the work to which she dedicated her life—free peoples standing together, determined to write our own destiny."

Thatcher died after a stroke this morning, following years spent in an increasingly fragile state.

The islamist hated her and everything she stood for.

Obama’s handlers wrote a nice tribute to be distributed in his name.

The worst, so far, is Meryl Streep’s backhanded response. WTH does anyone care what she thinks or has to say, even if she played Lady Thatcher in a movie? We invest intelligence in lefty Hollywood celebrity-doofuses that just isn't there.

So, someone wrote that for the Marxist, just like everything else he spews.

He can GTH.

He’s the polar opposite of everything she stood for and believed.

Not bad! Obama spent tax payer money wisely for once and hired a good writer.

She was no stranger to terrorism either. She survived an bomb assassination attempt by the IRA at a Brighton hotel early in the morning on 12 October 1984.

Five people were killed, including the wife of Cabinet Minister John Wakeham. Thatcher was staying at the hotel to attend the Conservative Party Conference, which she insisted should open as scheduled the following day.

She delivered her speech as planned, a move that was widely supported across the political spectrum and enhanced her popularity with the public.

Now, Lady Thatcher in a tank is believable...unlike Dukakis in a tank, which was a joke.

Obama wasn’t even awake yet when this statement was issued. Check the schedule. His work day today did not even begin until 11:15 am.

I heard them read that on the BBC. I was just so floored that she REALLY needed to make such a tacky statement. She made a boatload of capitalist money playing her, and that was the gratitude she gave? She could have just been nice and left it at that....but nooooooooo.

F***ing c**t.

What was Meryl Streep’s backhanded response?

(No doubt repugnant, I’m sure)
