A 66 year old in Washington refused to be a victim after having his property burglarized multiple times.

The homeowner called 911 around 4am to report a burglary. Shortly thereafter, the homeowner called 911 again to report he had shot 2 suspected burglars on his property.

When police arrived they found a man and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. The male suspect was pronounced dead at the scene while the female was airlifted to an area hospital in serious condition.

While neither suspect was armed, police say that it is possible to feel threatened on your own property even if the assailants are unarmed.

I wish the Republicans would have a bunch of these kinds of guys standing behind them, guns in hand, when they make speeches about gun rights, in the same way the leftists make a big show of using kids as their preferred background.

But the difference is that these people would be actual, absolutely real examples of specific lives saved because of guns, not theoretical props.

In Indiana, this would be a non-issue. If you commit burglary here, you are automatically assumed to be there to do harm. You have no duty to retreat and you are allowed to protect to the curtilage, not just the house.

God knows, I hope and pray neither of the two “victims” are minorities. That could open another can of racial unrest.

(gun hating Nazi) SEE! Blood in the streets! More GUN violence! (/gun hating Nazi).

It’s unfortunate that the above is exactly how treasonous felons like Bloomberg and Obama come up with their inflated gun violence stats. When GOOD people use their firearms to kill/maim/hurt BAD people, it still counts in their twisted sick fantasy-land.

The sad thing is that the taxpayer has to pay for the medical assistance to the perp who was shot but not killed.

That's the way it should be. If someone comes breaking through your door, you might very well be dead if you waited to shoot until you ascertained if they were armed or not.

Under old Scottish law, the legal term for housebreaking when occupants were there was called hamesucken. It was assumed that you intended to do the occupants harm and it was a hanging offense. The criminal had the duty to retreat if they unexpectedly stumbled upon occupants of the dwelling they were burgling. If they failed to do so, it was considered prima facia evidence of intent to inflict bodily harm and, therefore, guilt of hamesucken.

More than a few climbed the king's rope as a result. The intended result of the law was that more burglars were careful to ensure that a dwelling was unoccupied before they went about their business and quickly retreat if they guessed wrong. This is one Scottish law we could do to return to the books.

As I've said before, in cases like this, the state should offer some small bounty to the homeowner -- say, $500. Just an indication that the government knows what you did, approves of what you did, rewards what you did, and has absolutely no grounds for punishing you for what you did.

Property rights matter. If someone breaks into your home, you oughta shoot 'em, and the government should pay you for doing so.

This guy was defending some of his outlying property, not his domicile. It is pretty hard to argue self defense in this particular case. A warning shot should have been sufficient. I have little sympathy for the perps, but I am not sure they deserved execution.

Yes. They did.

Warning shots are stupid.

Warning shots are for Biden fans and the movies, not the real world.

That could be where our law came from. We have a lot of descendants of Scottish and Irish settlers here.

You assume you will know that the intruders are unarmed and will flee at a warning shot.

Those assumptions can get you killed.

...and upon her release from the hospital, the young lady would not only be charged with burglary, but murder as well.

Interesting idea... have a large group of people who were saved by owning a gun - or saved others because they were armed standing behind conservative politicians. Then share with the audience the most riveting story...

Good idea jiggyboy.

One of the wife's steak knives in the dead perps. hand is a great reinforcement visual for Chief Wiggums when he decides to get there too.

I always wonder why the perp "was rushed to the hospital" in these stories. Relax, take the scenic route.
