Arkansas Senate OKs Bill to Defund Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz

The Arkansas Senate passes a bill today that would defund the Planned Parenthood abortion business in the Natural State.

“Arkansas Senate Bill 818, introduced by state Rep. Gary Stubblefield (R-Branch), would block all state funds from going to any entity that provides abortions or refers patients to other abortion providers,” says a report in the Huffington Post. “The bill would also prohibit any organization that contracts with an abortion provider or referrer, including power companies, water companies, health insurers or medical suppliers, from receiving any state money. Supporters of the bill argue that it prevents taxpayer money from indirectly paying for abortion and abortion referrals.”

“The bill passed the Senate by a vote of 19 to 11. It now moves to a vote in the state House of Representatives,” it added.

Stubblefield says there are other groups that should receive funds instead of the abortion giant, and no services will be affected by the proposed legislation.

Earlier this year, Planned Parenthood set a record for doing more abortions than in any prior year of its existence.

The new report released by the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) shows the abortion giant did a record 333,964 abortions on unborn children during the 2011-2012 fiscal year. Those abortions were estimated to have generated $150 million dollars for the “nonprofit” organization.

While the number of abortions reached a record high, only 2,300 Planned Parenthood customers were referred to adoption agencies during the 2011-2012 fiscal year.

Meanwhile, the annual report reveals PPFA generated nearly $1.2 billion in total income — just short of the $1.22 billion mark that was its record for income that it posted in 2010-2011.

PPFA’s income included a hefty and ever-increasing check from American taxpayers. In 2009-2010, government funding reached a whopping $487.4 million. In 2010-2011 the figure jumped to $538.5 million. The total for 2011-2012 reached a staggering $542.4 million, which represents 45.2 percent of the group’s total annual budget.

While abortions increased, the new annual report shows PPFA sold more than 1.45 million “emergency” birth control kits, which is a slight decrease from past years. Planned Parenthood has announced that it expects all of its affiliated centers to start doing abortions in the coming months.

In its prior annual report, Planned Parenthood did 329,445 abortions in 2010 while it provided prenatal care to only 31,098 women and referred only 841 women to adoption agencies.

Wait for it,
Another f-ing liberal judge will void this and legislate from his or her bench.
Course Sandra Day says it is wrong to criticize judges.

I’m all for it but it needs exemptions for suppliers and contractors that have no medical connection ... why punish the local electric company and water company?? they have no choice as public utilities..

It only cuts State funds to be used for these services if they contract to do business with PPFA or any abortionist!
