We didn’t even have kindergarten. First grade - had to be 6 before the end of September.
It was really the first time we had to listen to someone besides our parents and relatives. This was a very close neighborhood school. They raised the flag every morning. We said the pledge. We were respectful because that's what our parents taught us AND it was common sense.
