New Teaching Standards Delve More Deeply Into Climate Change [CA State Indoctrination?]

New Teaching Standards Delve More Deeply Into Climate Change Under proposed new national science standards, students would learn concepts more thoroughly, including how human activity is driving global warming.

By Teresa Watanabe April 9, 2013

The politically touchy topic of climate change will be taught more deeply to students under proposed new national science standards released Tuesday.

The Next Generation Science Standards, developed over the last 18 months by California and 25 other states in conjunction with several scientific organizations, represent the first national effort since 1996 to transform the way science is taught in thousands of classrooms. The multi-state consortium is proposing that students learn fewer concepts more deeply and not merely memorize facts but understand how scientists actually investigate and gather information.

"What's important here is that the standards will give students a deep understanding of how science and scientists actually work," said Phil Lafontaine, a California Department of Education official who helped create the proposed standards. "It's not just what we know but how we came to know it."

Each state will decide on its own whether to adopt the benchmarks, which are based on a 2011 framework by the National Research Council. In California, they will be reviewed by a panel of science experts, with public hearings set to begin later this month in Sacramento, Santa Clara and Riverside. The state Board of Education is expected to vote on them in the fall, with partial implementation scheduled for 2014-15.

Dear Morons and Scientwists:

We are getting all the energy, light, heat, radiation from the SUN and 11 year sunspots cycles cause the variation.
Just look at the changes: day/night, summer/winter and temperatures changes associated with them.
Humans have as much effect on “climate change” as Zero pissing in the ocean and causing “global flood”.

GET IT ?????

It is another scam to skin the taxpayer sheep.

Some have suggested that Climate Change is an idea funded by Saudi Arabia. They fear that the world will develop its oil and gas and that will cut into their profits.

Ergo, Climate Change. Wind and Electric cars...none of which work...to the detriment of the development of Shale and Oil Drilling in the Gulf and Keystone.

Obama tossed a coin to Soros re: his development of Brazil's offshore oil investment (Petrobras). But this is nothing but a few hundred bil in the scheme of things.

Wonder how many bil has been deposited in an Obama account offshore.

Why don’t I trust them to be fair and balanced?

Suppose new evidence conclusively proved that we were entering what would become a devastating ice age. Would the far left demand that we burn more coal and oil to save the polar bears and spotted owls? Somehow I doubt it. They would discover that technology is responsible for the ice age too, and their solution would be the same as their solution to global warming - big government and the misery of a low energy, low standard of living culture. They are Luddites, not scientists.

Coming right up

(PhysOrg.com) -- Sunspot formation is triggered by a magnetic field, which scientists say is steadily declining. They predict that by 2016 there may be no remaining sunspots, and the sun may stay spotless for several decades.

The last time the sunspots disappeared altogether was in the 17th and 18th century, and coincided with a lengthy cool period on the planet known as the Little Ice Age.

You sound like one of those crazy conservatives. An environmental science professor told me last year that I was a moron for believing that the sun could affect the weather from 93 million miles away.
