But since this is not Hollywood and an instant kill is unlikely with anything less that 1800lbs of energy, I’ll settle for instant incompacitation.... enough to put an assailant down (but not instantly dead).
If you shoot a crackhead high on heroin or bathsalts with birdshot, you are going to sting them at best. You’ll scare them for sure... but he will still have the ability to continue comimg towards you.

You ain’t lyin! I remember, many a time, while frog gigging at ole man Jargons pond, we ran like the dickens while rock salt was stinging us in the back.
We didn’t think a thing about it either. Nowadays, they’d have the swat team surround that place if someone was shooting at kids. Back then it was normal. Even our parents said we deserved it.
Now the kids around here don’t even know that pond is there... don’t know what frog gigging is... they’re in closed rooms with a little computer screen in their face.
