Second to the Congress Critter.

I watched the video. My personal feeling is that people are too disconnected from nature these days. The first clue he should have had that something was amiss was the Beaver casually sauntering rather than running away as he walked along side it. In any “wild” animal, this is not a good sign. If they don’t give ground, they are likely to take ground, and attack.

I forgot to make a beaver joke, but I think they have all been done by this point in the thread, except maybe the one where the 2 beavers walk into the house, and the first one tells the second one to shut the dam door.

Anyone that has ever seen what a beaver can do to a mature tree will know to stay well clear of them.

It is the unfortunate habit
Of the beaver to breed like a rabbit.
..One can say without question,
..This leads to congestion
In the habitats beavers inhabit.

A crowded beaver is an an angry beaver.

THE LONGEST BEAVER DAM IN THE WORLD
The longest beaver dam found with Google Earth to date (October 2 2007) is located in Northern Alberta. The dam has a length of about 850 meters (2790 ft). It has at least existed at this spot for over 25 years as it can be observed on the 1990 LandSat 7 Pseudo Color Imagery Provided by NASA World Wind. However 1975 aerial photo’s show that this dam did not exist in 1975.

This dam was measured with the Google Earth Measuring tool to be about 850 meters in length. It has clearly two or more lodges and is a combination of two original dams. No surface water drainage can be seen. Water moves down the very slight sloping wetland. The ( relative thin layer) of organic material of the wetland works as a sponge . The flow is slow and over a wide area of wetland which requires the building of very long dams.

Of course the dam cannot only been seen from space, it was actually discovered by ‘flying over the earth’ with Google Earth. It is unlikely that this dam would have been discovered without Google Earth and its high resolution image data base, in this case provided by Digital Globe.

If I’m going to die from a wild beaver attack, it better involve Snu-Snu, rather than teeth.

Had a neighbor once where this type of thing happened to her husband. He was hunting, set his rifle down against a fence to climb over it. His dog knocked the rifle over, it discharged, caught him in the femoral artery. Bled out in no time. Really sad.
